  1. I was thinking the floor payroll is 70-80 million. I still think the Twins can keep team as is and sign Jeffers and Ryan to front loaded extensions add relievers and Ryan O’Hearn or Hoskins or Josh Bell to a 1 year 5-8 million. This sets us up to be a .500 team and lower payroll as we get more competitive.
  2. If we get a bump in payroll the acquisitions should be front loaded extensions for Jeffers Ryan and a low cost 2 year deal with option for Ober. Then some low cost relievers. Outside of maybe 1 bat and 7 relievers, I don’t see too much for the Twins to do.
  3. 76.3% chance we have a top 4 pick. Or the same or better pick then our record. Here’s to hoping.
  4. Mientkiewicz!!!!!! I like all 6 of the choices above. But bring in Douggie Baseball!!⚾️ It’s a good time for Baldelli to be let go with so many openings. He could latch on somewhere and keep going. In all seriousness they do need to bring in someone with fire. Someone who can push the emotional side of the game.
  5. I thought I heard he was a solid defensive player. If he can handle 2B, SS, and 3B defensively then we can live with subpar offense for a few years with him as a back up. But I agree he has to hit better.
  6. If Lee doesn’t take a step forward to claim 2B, SS or 3B when Culpepper is ready to take over at SS he could get moved to utility player and if Lewis doesn’t improve he could end up platooning with Lee. The good news is next season we have lots of good hitting prospects on the way. And we will need all next season to develop an effective bullpen. Our rotation looks close to competitive but they have a few salaries so probably not….
  7. The youth movement will consume the 2026 season too. We have too many holes in the pen. In fact we have a solid mop up reliever Tonkin, a 6th inning (Topa) and 7th inning maybe 8th (Sands). There isn’t another reliable reliever you can count on right now. We have 3 OF and a SS coming up next year so reinforcements are on the way. The Twins need one or two of their starting pitchers to develop Then it comes down to the bench. The Twins have been good at finding solid offense off the bench. Hope that trend continues. Happy that Vazquez contract comes off the books. I bet payroll sits at 90 million next season. I wonder who the Twins are planning to bring in next year.
  8. The Twins will trade for someone who ends up closing games. Overall they will do a closer by committee approach and spread the saves around to the best matchup/ rested player available for the day.
  9. Wallner’s average was down 50 points this season. I would like to see if he can get them back next season. He has 35-45 HR power if he can play a full season. He gets the 50 points back on his average and he is close to a .900 OPS hitter. We don’t have too many of those here. This season he was a productive Joey Gallo with over a 110+ OPS. Which is better than many of the other hitters on the team. And this was a down year for him. So let’s give him a break and see what happens next season. We can always trade him later. He is a Minnesotan. Might as well root for the hometown player.
  10. Austin Martin is the speed guy and Rhodes or Outman with McCusker as option 3 for the last spot. Or if Larnarch or Wallner get moved to DH or 1B then 2 of those 3 start the season. I think. Walker and ERod and Gonzales are up pretty quickly and Martin could get moved to backup…..
  11. Larnarch is a former first round pick. I think he hit just enough to get arbitration. The question with him is will the Twins trade him. Also how low will payroll go next season. 90 million he can stay at 60 million he can’t. Tonkin should be offered a contract. Something like 1 million - 1.2 million and he either resigns or is nontendered. We have no bullpen at this point and having a member locked in at a little over league minimum is fine. I suppose you offer Misiewicz an 800-850 k contract. I don’t think he deserves a spot like this. I would contender him and Hatch. Ober is the real question mark. If the Twins think he will be better next season then offer. I guess a trade is possible too. I’m sure they will offer him arbitration but the Twins have been scaling back on costs and I don’t know if they are working their way down to a 90 million or 60 million payroll for next season.
  12. Near perfect evaluation. I thinkk McCuskin has a shot at backup OF as well and should be included in that mix. This allows for 1 of them (Rhodes, McCuskin, or Outman) to fail and we’re still good. with how the rookies played this year , am not opposed to signing a backup OF in FA as well and let those three compete for the other backup OF. for 2026, I believe the Twins will go cheap at 1B. Goldschmidt at 1 year 8 -10 million…. Not sure what he would actually make or if he would rather retire…..
  13. I expect the Twins to sign 4 relievers this offseason. 3 of them to minor league deals with spring training invites. I think Larnarch will be the DH and Wallner will become the 1B . We don’t sign Rhys. Hopefully we sign Jeffers and Ryan to front loaded extensions. The Twins will sign a bench player likely an IF and someone to compete with Outman and Rhodes and Martin for a backup spot/ LF. The Twins will mostly go after depth. No reason to spend big since no one cares anyways.
  14. Wallner and his power looks like a solid #5 hitter to me. 22 HRs in 336 ABs is a pretty good rate. Close to 35 over a full season…. Larnarch I agree. He is an ok hitter to plug in where needed. As long as his cost is below 5 million keeping him can be justified. I can also see the Twins trading him too.
  15. Go young? Walner and Larnarch are young. Though I do agree we need to find space for WJ, ERod and Gabby. We also have space at DH and 1B for a rotation of players.
  16. Wisler, Tyler. Clippard, and Theilbar (minor league free agent) were pretty good RP signings. And they types of signings they should pursue this offseason. The bullpen needs a lot of work so much so I can see the Twins bringing back To kin and Topa. As Sands is the only one practically guaranteed a role in the pen. That’s 7 spots to fill. Blewett is a FA again…… I doubt the Twins add to payroll this offseason other than to cheaply fill holes on the team. I would prefer they frontload some extensions for Ryan and Jeffers and prepare for a 2027 run to relevance. Use 2026 to find out who are the solutions and gaining experience for the rookies coming up next year and filling the major holes next offseason.
  17. A couple of scouts….. they should frontload an extension for Jeffers and Ryan and make minimal buys with the idea of using next season as a rebuild year and going for it the following season. By front loading the extensions they save in future seasons. By keeping payroll lower but spending so they have some payroll keeps them out of union trouble and saves them money to apply towards team debt. That helps put the Twins in better financial position just in time for the CBA agreement to end and a strike / lockout begins…..
  18. The lockout affects fan attendance. It did big time after the 1994 strike. If there is a strike / lockout that lasts an entire season you lose a lot more fans. The uncertainty will keep the Pohlads from committing too much to payroll until there is more certainty on that situation. If there is no strike/ lockout then yes they will commit more. I agree that it shouldn’t affect an extension for Jenkins except that payroll could shift downward league wide with an extended strike/ lockout. And that could be a missed opportunity too.
  19. Because more bad press creates more fan apathy. Meaning they lose more fans and fewer people go to games
  20. My only concern is the looming lockout if 2027. I don’t think the Twins want any contracts in the books until the next labor agreement is in place
  21. I hope he gets offered a 8 or 9 year deal and takes it. It would be nice to see the Twins go for some stability. The Twins have the makings for a good team next year if they get one decent 1B, a bench player or two that can hit 100-110+ OPS and a couple of bullpen arms.
  22. I think Max was projected to remain in CF and Jenkins was projected to be able to play CF but be elite in the corner OF similar to Kepler. That is probably why Detroit took Max over Jenkins.
  23. Jenkins is half the key to a fast turnaround for the Twins. If he hits with an .800+ OPS the lineup improves in a hurry. That allows Larnarch to be DH and all we need is a 1B and for either Lee or Culpepper to produce at SS for the other half of the key to a fast turnaround. And the lineup is set and Deep. Santana will be cheep again next year and we will have rookies to try out at 1B too.
  24. Wallner is likely to stay put or possibly move to 1B or DH. He is a good hitter with elite power. I do like the logjam of hitters coming up putting a squeeze for better hitting from the OF.
  25. The whole team really came together to lose this one. No losing effort was wasted!
