Wisler, Tyler. Clippard, and Theilbar (minor league free agent) were pretty good RP signings. And they types of signings they should pursue this offseason. The bullpen needs a lot of work so much so I can see the Twins bringing back To kin and Topa. As Sands is the only one practically guaranteed a role in the pen. That’s 7 spots to fill. Blewett is a FA again…… I doubt the Twins add to payroll this offseason other than to cheaply fill holes on the team. I would prefer they frontload some extensions for Ryan and Jeffers and prepare for a 2027 run to relevance. Use 2026 to find out who are the solutions and gaining experience for the rookies coming up next year and filling the major holes next offseason.

A couple of scouts….. they should frontload an extension for Jeffers and Ryan and make minimal buys with the idea of using next season as a rebuild year and going for it the following season. By front loading the extensions they save in future seasons. By keeping payroll lower but spending so they have some payroll keeps them out of union trouble and saves them money to apply towards team debt. That helps put the Twins in better financial position just in time for the CBA agreement to end and a strike / lockout begins…..

The lockout affects fan attendance. It did big time after the 1994 strike. If there is a strike / lockout that lasts an entire season you lose a lot more fans. The uncertainty will keep the Pohlads from committing too much to payroll until there is more certainty on that situation. If there is no strike/ lockout then yes they will commit more. I agree that it shouldn’t affect an extension for Jenkins except that payroll could shift downward league wide with an extended strike/ lockout. And that could be a missed opportunity too.

Jenkins is half the key to a fast turnaround for the Twins. If he hits with an .800+ OPS the lineup improves in a hurry. That allows Larnarch to be DH and all we need is a 1B and for either Lee or Culpepper to produce at SS for the other half of the key to a fast turnaround. And the lineup is set and Deep. Santana will be cheep again next year and we will have rookies to try out at 1B too.

The whole team really came together to lose this one. No losing effort was wasted!

These Three Twins Are Approaching Make-Or-Break Status
Brandon replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Woods-Richardson is here until 2027 or more likely 2028 since he is cost effective. He hasn’t pitched himself out of a job. walner should have a spot I. The lineup either DH/ 1B /RF. His power plays. Hopefully his average goes back to .270 range. Larnarch is a bubble guy. But I see him more as a midseason trade candidate when another team needs a low cost bat. I hope Lewis turns it around. I don’t have anything to add on him.- 49 replies

The only battle is the battle between your ears. Ego plays a lot in club culture and the battles that play out in between the ears. When Correa went down, we had too many team players start losing their battles between their ears in baseball games and the losing began. So the injury to Correa isn’t what torpedoed the team it’s how the team battled with that news after the fact. Too many battles lost between their ears. Baseball is a slow moving game with lots of time to overthink. Change how those battles go and change the outcomes of the games. Lewis began to overthink after saying he never slumps and overthought his way into a slump immediately. ….

No. There is a stadium lease. And I bet the new minority owners have a big minority stake like 30-40% stake to lessen the risk for the Pohlads while keeping them in control. The Pohlads can use the minority take sales to pay down the team debt to give the team a fresh start. But the minority owners probably will want to keep payroll in line too. Also I wonder if one of the minority owners isn’t Mauer…

This leadership group got us a playoff series win and everything since, I pin on the owners and some bad performances. During the winter the front office makes good moves that I usually agree with. Last offseason we signed a few good bench players that were everyday players leaving no one good on the bench which hurt. The Twins of recent depend on rotating their bench players in often so a 100-110 OPS+ is a good thing to have off the bench. We don’t have that this season. Lewis and Correa not hitting like we hoped either. We were one good hitter short otherwise and Falvey was given scraps. He did good with what he had. Coloumbe, Bader and I guess France. Kody Clemens has been a good pickup. I don’t see how you can blame the front office after they were ordered to cut payroll after being told they were out planning on going to 180 million in payroll. I’m sure they wouldn’t have signed Correa if they knew what was going to happen to payroll.

Festa, Abel, and Taj could end up in the mix too I suppose. Plus some of those trying out now could be kept as well. And don’t forget about the inexpensive castoff/ reclamation project either.

Five Ways the Twins Can Salvage 2025
Brandon replied to Eric Blonigen's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I will feel better if no one goes to a game the rest of the season. I was pro Pohlads until this sell off. They went too far in tearing down. They can’t get gone fast enough. After the rant, if they can find some relievers to rely on for 2026 and beyond. Bring Prelipp up for a few innings. The Twins were just short on hitting, Keaschal seems to be that hitter. Lewis is hitting better too. The Twins could have gone on a run with patience. At least we have lots of starting Pitchers and OFs, bring up ERod and send Jenkins to AAA already -
Probably not but maybe 5% closer to even value than before.

That Brian Dozier trade turned out better than expected. Smeltzer was a useful 14th pitcher on a 13 man staff, Forsythe held down 2nd the rest of the year and Raley did some stuff just not for us. Dozier didn’t do much after getting traded.

While I know the Correa trade was a salary dump we should be paying less of his contract maybe 20-25 million with atleast their # 25 prospect or a good lotto player. In that 22-30 range. Houston could still add that guy in the trade to show salary dump returns. Stewart trade was wasted opportunity. So was Jax trade. Still puzzled on Varland trade.
