  1. Philosophical question - if we play a game and no one watches did we really lose?
  2. Most memorable birthday is easy....October 27, 1991 Twins win epic game #7 and World Series over Atlanta. Can't get a much sweeter present than that!
  3. I had my pitchfork ready as well - but then I looked at the 2014 and 2015 numbers and Suzuki had the top CERA for the Twins. So either he has lost it this year or there are other more random factors. In either case, I am ready to move on from Suzuki as our catcher. Let's get as strong defensively up the middle as we can and then bunt our way to runs.
  4. Got to hand it to this team - just when you think it can't get any worse - it does. at least there is an off day tomorrow and only 2 more weeks.
  5. Nice call - way to go Buxton. Fingers crossed the bullpen can hold the lead.
  6. Same story all season. Santana deserves some Cy Young votes for pitching so well for this club.
  7. They are also investigating Padre trades with the White Sox and Marlins - so there could be further penalties. I can't see how he is not either suspended for a year and/or fired. Who would want to deal with the Padres after this? If a player gets caught cheating by using a banned substance they are gone for half a season.
  8. With Pelfrey pitching, I can imagine everyone was volunteering to play today.
  9. Yep, that was sarcasm. Thought we might hold them to only 2 runs but figures we lost the lead. Nice to see Dozier come back and tie it!
  10. Who saw that coming - took all of 5 minutes to lose that lead. Are we throwing games for money?
  11. This sounds great all-around.
  12. This has been the longest season I can remember - tough when your playoff chances are dashed in early Spring. Nice to see the young players come up and we have seen flashes of talent - it would be a little more comforting if there was more of a steady improvement. The pitching? both starting and relieving very disappointing - don't know if it is the talent, the approach, the defense, pitch-framing or more likely all of the above but pretty disastrous. Although I still follow every game even this year - My #18 is looking forward to having this season in the rear-view mirror. You don't lose 100 games by accident. Hopefully this season is embarrassing enough that every member of the organization (that remains) will work harder and smarter to make the Twins respectable again. I am not a fire everyone type of person but in this case I would welcome a fresh approach and looking forward to new organization direction - we have developed a losing culture.
  13. I thought I would check how Arcia is doing in San Diego and in addition to getting off to a slow start batting I saw this note: Spin: Arcia made an embarrassing blunder in the outfield Tuesday when he allowed Mookie Betts to tag from second base and move to third when he casually fielded a shallow pop fly, so that may explain why he is starting Wednesday's game on the bench. The Padres are also facing lefty David Price, and Arcia is a career .228 hitter against southpaws, so that made the decision to sit him even easier. Jon Jay will start in right field and lead off in Arcia's place. You have to figure when your on your 4th team of the year you might not want to keep making these type of mistakes. He is still only 25 but he may be getting his last chance. He sure has fallen far the past couple of years.
  14. If I were GM I would bring up Granite to bat leadoff and play LF next year. Of course I might be fired as the GM before the All-Star break. But anyway, I think his skill set would transition well to the majors, he would play solid-plus defense and would be the ideal leadoff hitter.
  15. Echoing others comments - thank you so much for putting these summaries together every single day - always look forward to reading through the results. Particularly this year, this was the bright spot of the baseball season.
  16. Vikings fan due to the agony of the losses - Darrin Nelson dropped pass in '87, 1998 missed FG against Atl, Overtime loss to Saints with 6 fumbles, too many men in the huddle and not touching the ball in OT, missed chip shot FG last year - many more I have probably wiped from my mind including the humiliating shutout against the Giants in 2000 Championship game. As others have mentioned the Twins have won the big one twice in my lifetime - coming through in the big moments. Yes, their long seasons of futility can be torture but they have won it all which provides warm thoughts in dark times. Something that put Teddy's injury in perspective for me, seeing the ambulance on the field reminded me of 2000 and Korey Stringer losing his life at training camp. So it is a terrible injury and puts a damper on this season but it has been much worse.
  17. I should have known jinxes only work one-way for this team.
  18. Let me try the reverse jinx - Hello 80 losses!
  19. I sure wish we could switch this year and extend the minor league season to the end of September and end the major league season over labor day weekend. These minor league reports are what keeps me going - thanks for a great job by all who put these together every day.
  20. I am happy that Wimmers gets a shot at the major leagues. Hoping he rises to the task.
  21. Perhaps the most disappointing/discouraging season in Twins history continues to get worse. Curious personnel moves, so many prospects failing to develop, not being able to master fundamentals - along with a new GM we also need a fresh coaching staff I believe.
  22. The new Twins way is "We do less with more". Come up to the Majors and we will turn you into a pumpkin.
  23. Can the fans storm the the field so we have to forfeit so we can end this misery early? This is sucking all the remaining optimism out of me.
  24. We may make it a 1-run ballgame - then they will score 5 runs off the bullpen and we will roll over. Can't seem to get to that elusive 50 win mark.
