  1. I definitely don't think they are stupid. I'm sure they are very competent. I'd be ecstatic to sign Carlos for only a one year contract. I just don't see a 1 year offer cutting it. He would have signed already if a 1 year offer was his best option. Just my opinion...but I believe multiple years no matter who he signs with.
  2. Actually year 5 would be and 8 million buyout of a 16 million dollar salary. So total would have been 100 or 108. So not to far off. Guess our memories are both fading.
  3. Here's my thing. We signed Donaldson to what a 120 million starting at age 34 or 35...not sure exact age but it was definitely past his prime years. This is our chance to sign a better player at age 27. That gives us AT least 8 years before he would be the age of what Donaldson was. Think about that. Also spend money on a star..or pay 3 different underperfoming old veterans every year for 10 million each. No thanks! Sign Archer, Bundy, and whoever for totally of 30 million. OR sign Correa for 35 million a year?
  4. I believe the talent is still there. I hear what you are saying...but he missed 2 years of development. He had TJ surgery and also was shut down a year do to milb losing a season. His upside and talent is still there, but missing 2 years of development hurt his time line. I believe he will make multiple starts in the big leagues this year. So in my opinion being 24 while missing 2 years and fully healthy, his story is just getting started.
  5. If you consider 80-85 wins a development year....Id call that great job considering we were only developing players. But heck 90 wins probably wins the division. So hopefully we can develop and win the division at the same time.
  6. 3 new outfielders? I have to ask who are you getting rid of?..and how?
  7. What is it on his BR page that confirms he is not moving up in your opinion?
  8. You would feel much differently if you watched him play and practice in person. His game stands out even against older competition. The league is also notoriously known as being not very hitter friendly.
  9. One of my favorite reads every year Nick..thankyou! I really like Emma. He's a really outstanding person and in my opinion will be atop our prospect ratings soon. No knock on the other guys but as I've stated before he has superstar written all over him.
  10. How does making better trades and receiving more talent in those trades NOT make us better? The Berrios trade literally did impact us as a team.
  11. I believe it is solid wisdom. We gave up a lot less for Sonny G. as compared to what the Blue Jay's gave up for Jose Berrios.
  12. Just wanted to get your take on how you rated Petty to our current pitching prospects. I thought you were comparing them.
  13. I just don't get fans not wanting to spend up. Look..if the owners don't spend it, they are not going to mail you a check reflecting the money saved. I understand the owners being hesitant..just not the fans.
  14. That's kinda harsh and definitely not true. I know the goal is the world series but...definitely not the worst FO of all time. Offseason isn't even over.
  15. I know and understand you and others want the young players to not be blocked and play. But honestly the Twins have been doing everything they can to give them opportunities. The challenge is not if or how to give the kids a chance. We've been doing that for at least the past two seasons. The challenge is keeping them healthy. So you may say let's rebuild and give the young players a chance....but if they are injured...what you are wanting becomes impossible. The FO HAS BEEN trying to get our kids chances.
  16. Hey Cody. Nice article about one of my favorite players. Also seams to be growing into a leadership role from my perspective. I have to ask what you mean when you say his numbers from last year are "kinda fluky". Dis he have unexceptional good luck or something I missed? Thanks
  17. No worries. Thanks for sharing.
  18. I totally missed Hendricks being traded. Wow..what did they get in return. I can't find it.
  19. Honestly if you think we have already been rebuild mode...I'm not sure if you have ever seen a rebuild then.Trading prospects for 2 good starting pitchers in the last 10 months does not indicate we have been rebuilding. Just sayin.
  20. I honestly think a good thread on here would be... who of us die hard fans pay to watch our Twins on TV. I'm out of market..so I pay up for the mlb network. I also purchase merchandise and attend spring traing. Probably an unpopular opinion here...but feels like many on here are unwilling to spend to watch our team either on tv or in person..but like to bemoan about our lower payroll. Either support the team or dont..I'm ok either way. But if folks are unwilling to spend for tickets or TV access then please don't complain about payroll
  21. One of the kindest people I have had a chance to share small amount of time with. He went far out of his way to encourage me and my family during a tough time and has stayed in touch ever since I honestly can not be happier for Joe. A great human being.
  22. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I completely agree there are more than a few ways to looks at numbers. Love the fishing analogy, however I'd still rather have the guy who catches more fish. Same with rbi. If player A have 130 rbi vs player B has 80 in less chances both out of the number 4 spot in the lineup. I choose player A. Player A probably was healthier and had more opportunities...but he also delivered with these opportunities. I also watch alot of games. So in the Miranda/Abrue example. I already knew Miranda delivered at a higher percentage of opportunities...no need to look into it. I love anylitcs but I also love counting stats. There are numerous examples of how both tell the story. As somebody mentioned above a team made of the top rbi producers beats a team of top percentage of runs driven in players everytime.
