  1. Were any of our Twins Daily commoners blessed by the experience of cheering alongside Kirk Cousins during Game One? Good to know that the experience went well for our Vikings QB and his family. https://apple.news/AIJRz9tyLQtSyk4E2fkqJcQ
  2. Good comment over on the Athletic - our memories of “where we were” in October, 1987 and 1991 are still so sharp and fresh. Likely because we keep revisiting them so often! I already have some good ones put together for 2023 - let’s keep them building!
  3. 1987 - Laudner to Gaetti nabs Darrell Evans at third base. Twins were ahead 4-3 in bottom of the 6th, 1 out, runners on 2nd and 3rd. Our team goes on to clinch the series and bring a title back to a raucous party at the Metrodome. Read the New York Times article about it here. 2023 - Gray to Correa leaves Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. waving for air at second base. Twins were ahead 2-0, 2 outs in the top of the 5th, runners on 2nd and 3rd. Now able to run off the field with their lead intact. 12 outs later, the celebration is underway at Target Field!
  4. 1987 - Gary Gaetti stepped up and smashed two homers to get us going against the favored AL East Detroit Tigers. Lays claim to ALCS MVP. 2023 - Royce Lewis drives in all three Twins RBI with his pair of roundtrippers vs. the (slightly) favored AL East Toronto Blue Jays. Fans choice for MVP, if awarded.
  5. It’s Pablo Day folks. Step aside and let him pitch. He grew up in Venezuela watching Johan deal from the mound - time for destiny to be fulfilled!
  6. 19. The new uniforms! 😂 This particular brand of Twins clothing has never lost in the postseason. Maybe it wasn’t “just” for the additional marketing dollars - the Twins front office was really looking out for all of us! ”We Believe” - now get out there and plunk down a couple Andrew Jacksons for your Miami Marlins of the North hat!
  7. Good to be playing a team from Canada. I trust that the good nature of the Blue Jays will allow us to win at least one game in the series. 😜
  8. How about the celebration Gatorade cooler for $1000? Make more sense!
  9. My departed former father-in-law told me how in northern Minnesota in the fall of 1965, the schoolteacher wheeled in a TV for the class to watch the Dodgers and Twins (at least for one of the games).
  10. In other years, the team record was often much better _with_ Buxton than without him. It was a remarkable witness to the kind of player he can be. I suspect the opposite is true in 2023. The medical plan just wasn’t able to get him back on track this year.
  11. Brutal. Thanks for the catalog of relievers for whom we couldn’t find some spare change. The FO was so starstruck by C4 and being his third choice to the prom that they forgot the rest of the preparations for the dance also cost money. Pablo will need to throw a 9-inning shutout for the 2023 Twins to at least set aside the long, long, long postseason losing streak.
  12. Take the championship and run. The whole state followed the Twins in 87 and 91. The stories from those days continue to live on!
  13. Fabulous loss for the Lollygaggin’ Twins today! Nice showcase game for Sonny, followed by a marvelous bullpen collapse. Now just need some cojones to actually DFA a few folks and hit the waiver wire with mucho gusto!
  14. I’m thinking I’d like a first round team that has “fallen” to #6, rather than a team that has “risen” from #7 in the last week of the regular season. Some writers have wondered if a WC team will tank in the last week to play the Twins instead of being a #4 or #5 seed. I’d hope karma takes over at that point! Just pray for an opponent that isn’t firing on all cylinders and can boot a few grounders or foul off a few meatballs. It’s baseball!
  15. The 2023 Twins are quite a bit aways from being “cute”, so I guess we do have a chance to win a playoff game this year. It’s been a miserable, ugly season with all manner of criticism and hand-wringing. This band of misfits could indeed find a way to advance in the “crapshoot”. I’ll still take the lone victory that turns the page on 20 years of suffering - keep your expectations low, folks!
  16. The cruise control is already set at .512… 83-79. 😜
  17. We needed to be Minnesota Nice. The Rangers are going through a tough time right now. They really need a couple wins right now!
  18. How does Baldelli rank over the last 4 seasons? The guy has got to be the Earl Weaver or Bobby Cox of his era…
  19. Relax… relax… relax… this is going to be the most absurd “race” for a division title in post-1969 history. Enjoy it! We may yet supplant the 82-80 Padres and enter into “the dance”. Piggyback Pablo and Sonny for Game One, get a shutout, kill the beast of 0-18, then kick back on the couch. Successful Season! 🤣😝🤪
  20. You got me, Chief! Thanks. TK had 114 minor league HR’s, only 1 in the majors. Started 36 of 43 appearances at 1B. Fewer starts in 1975 at 1B than Briggs and Kusick, blocked by Carew in 1976.
  21. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/war?lg=&teamid=8 Willi is 3rd for position players after Jeffers and Julien. MAT slots in at 5th. Where have you gone, Carlos Correa?
  22. Viva la Tortuga! Happy to have a reference to the heart, soul (and legs) of the Bomba Squad!
  23. “Messing Around” = Lollygagging… the hallmark of our 2023 Twins. Coasting to a title at 83-79. Wonderful.
