  1. I want to know why he’s still being allowed to bat. It’s clear he’s not good enough to be playing in the majors right now. I want to know if this is related to the same issue that’s preventing him from playing CF, a different injury, or if he’s really just not a great player right now.
  2. He didn’t play full time with the Nats
  3. This. I want someone to be honest and tell us he’s playing hurt, or if he’s just having a god-awful time at the plate. Just tell us so we can stop speculating.
  4. Let’s throw some real chaos in here - put him in RF. Less ground to cover when playing at Target field and it could force the issue of moving Kepler to CF (or left… hell… Gallo was in CF the other night so we know we have more than one player willing to do it).
  5. Based on everything I’ve complained about this season I shouldn’t have anything to complain about for last night. The pitching staff had one bad inning and that made a huge difference. We scored 6 runs which should be enough to win most games at any point in the season. No complaints from me… However… with Julien hitting and Buxton not, there needs to be some switching. Buck needs to sit for a couple games, Julien needs to be in at DH, and keep switching Solano and Farmer between 3B/2B, and spell an outfielder a night and insert Wallner as a replacement. if the front office needs any better advice than that I’ll settle for a $400k salary through the remainder of the season as I audition for the role in ‘24.
  6. Admittedly I wasn’t able to watch anything this weekend except for the last couple innings on Saturday. The results that mattered the most were the ones we expected with a three-game sweep… but the way it was accomplished does not instill confidence. as for this quote: ”In Oakland, Farmer looked like a guy ready to flush that first half. (Careful about that though.) ”
  7. Is there anything in the rule book that says the DH has to be used for the pitcher? In all (half) seriousness Maeda has experience at the plate. Maybe not the best, but he has experience.
  8. I get what he's saying. Dear Falvine - TRADE. HIM. NOW.... get something in return. He's already made some statements that indicate he questions how things are being run, now he's talking about possible retirement. He's a FA at the end of the season and you are NOT getting him back next year unless you drop some insane cash on him. And lets be honest - your last couple of big-splash contracts haven't exactly worked out as you have hoped they would.
  9. Furious typing mistake on my part - he’s performing 4.9 fWAR below his projected 5.9 fWAR. That’s how I’m getting to him performing roughly 2.5x worse than the others relative to their projections. whatever the case - he’s having a miserable season and is being way overpaid for what he is delivering on the field.
  10. Correa is performing -4.9 in fWAR. The others are -2. He's under performing almost 2.5 as bad as everyone else on the list. Correa is also making $33.3M this year... The others (Abreu $19.5M, Anderson $12.5M, and Hernandez $10M) aren't sniffing that kind of money. When you take the performance and couple that with the extreme amount he's being paid for what we get, he's absolutely the LVP on this list.
  11. I'm not calling a hit on anyone. I was making a point about the topic of Popkins needing to be relieved of his coaching duties having been reiterated over and over again. If anyone has a sound argument for why he needs to retain his position I would love to hear it.
  12. I’ve got nothing to add to what has already been said… except Im sick of the Popkins thread
  13. If we keep playing the way we have I think you are spot on with the lead. Its a manageable 2nd half of July for Cleveland with a series against Chicago and KC,
  14. I dont think we have to worry about trading away any bats.... Gray may be the most likely candidate to head somewhere. He's having a solid year, making the ASG, and I believe he's a free agent next year meaning the Twins either ship him no or run the very serious risk of getting nothing in return.
  15. I've got nothing positive to say today, so I wont say it. Maybe just hope things dont get entirely out of control and jeopardize Lopez's and Gray's ability to pitch on Tuesday.
  16. Unfortunately this is the poor hitting I had a feeling we would regress back to after the brief glimpse of competence earlier this week…
  17. This TV coverage is total BS... I have MLB.tv AND I'm in the local zone for the O's and I can't get this game at all. WTF MLB!?!?!
  18. Not career ending, but he never regained his form while still in Minnesota.... although his worst offensive years would probably be leading this year's team in all the good statistical categories.
  19. I’m taking the last week with a grain of salt. The hitting has improved but right now the improved hitting is a statistical outlier in this season. Will it continue and prove the first half was a slump? Or will it regress back to the mean? The Baltimore series result was important, but it’s not lost in me how few runs we scored in games 2 and 3. Our recent sweep against the Royals is something we should have done. In fact, just about every MLB team not based in Oakland should be walking into a series against KC expecting to sweep. I’ll take it, but again it should be expected, and it’s not like we flexed and beat them by 10 runs each night. i will be watching (yea, actually watching on tv) the Baltimore series this weekend. Taking at least 2 is important, I don’t want a loss on Sunday, and I need to see a collection of solid ABs up and down the lineup. If those things happen then I can start to cautiously adjust my 2nd half expectations.
  20. *sigh* are we just unlucky? Or do we have enough circumstantial evidence with our medical and training staff to indicate there is a systemic problem? Just like we have with our hitting struggles and Popkins, there just seems to be an overwhelming amount of data that should statistically rule all these injuries and DL stints as coincidence.
  21. According to the votes for the ASG this is not true... But I disagree with the votes and the current roster and this staff has been pretty damn good, and I haven't felt this confident about most of the staff in a long time. I'm a little disappointed for guys like Ryan and Duran who have a legitimate argument that can be made for them to be in Seattle next week. With a little more/any run support Ryan could easily be in double-digit wins, and maybe leading MLB in win total.
