  1. Winder was such a promising young pitcher. I'm hoping they can work with his mechanics or pitch mix to get him back on track ..
  2. He needs more plate discipline or a healthy shoulder won't matter. Miranda was just flailing away last year ..
  3. In the grand scheme, it's a frivolous gap, but so these things go. Yes, for the team but I bet 350k isn't frivolous to Gordon or me 🙃How about you guys ..
  4. You don't look crazier than the rest of us, that's for sure .. But then, that might be a low bar 😂
  5. I would love to see someone study what percentage of any off-speed pitch is thrown for a strike. In the study, you would add any pitch thrown outside the strike zone, even if a batter hit it. I'm going to guess they throw two balls for every strike, which puts the pitcher at a disadvantage if you sit on the fastball.
  6. row an excellent juicy fastball to register a strike. Pitchers seldom threw Sano a strike, yet he was always hacking. He should have just let them throw the outside sliders until they either walked him or tried their fastball. Bottom line is it comes down to plate discipline and the willingness to hit with a two-strike count.
  7. If we had the same TV revenue, the front office would be actively trying to improve our depth. It's just the circumstances are different this time. You post was very good by the way.
  8. All I know is he won the MVP in my first year as a Twins fan. He will always have a place in my most revered Twins players and made a big impression on me even if it was only one year.
  9. 10% So he uses his fastball as a chang-up. I like it!
  10. I think you nailed it when you pointed out Wallner hits the ball to all fields with power, and the other two were dead pull hitters. As I think about it, I can see both Gallo and Sano putting the same swing on every pitch regardless of where it's thrown. All pitcher had to do is throw outside those swing paths ..
  11. If I remember correctly, Keoni Cavaco was that shiny object darting up the draft board just before draft day .. I wonder how the few guys predicted to be picked at that spot fared?
  12. Nothing against Jenkins but I don't know how you can place anyone ahead of Royce Lewis
  13. I've been hammering on that all last year. As a small market team, we should have never thrown so much money into one player, especially at his age. I mean they had to know how risky our television deal would be coming up when they did it. BUT,, we're stuck with his contract now ..
  14. I say bring back Burt Blyleven and Jim Kaat and pitch them eight to nine innings every 4 days ..
  15. So, are the retread relief pitchers being added to our 20-man roster?
  16. There is some truth to that but it's only because they haven't come up with a strong number two guy since Bert Blyleven.
  17. Steve Cohen should thank his lucky stars; we took Correa off his hands. He would have gone right on top of that big bond fire ..
  18. I agree we need to add some old school with our high-tech ways. But then, I'm an old fart. I don't mind strikeouts as long as the hitter is productive. There were 29 times last year I would have rather had Correa strike out instead of hit into a double play.
  19. That's terrific news! It sounds like Canterino was ahead of Paddock, which is encouraging. Sounds like we will get some use out of him. I'm actually glad he got the surgery. Seems like he was going to have arm problems if he hadn't. Now he gets a fresh start ..
  20. We don't have the starting depth to move him to the pen .. I like the Ober analogy if we sign a top-flight starter.
  21. Keep this up and before you know it the game will be one hour ,,
  22. Thank goodness they have room to regress a bit and still be quality players .. I can't wait for their third year ..
  23. I've never seen a more stubborn batter. One that could never recognize an outside slider and lay off it. He could have led the league in walks if he had just laid off them.
