  1. Last seven games he is 0-3 with a 10.5 ERA....... He's now blown 3 saves on the year.......he ain't perfect. Just sayin'
  2. THIS GAME IS ALL ON ROCCO........I can't even begin to type all of the stupid moves. I'm done defending him: 1. Your team is struggling to score runs BIG TIME----you tie the game up in the 3rd inning and have a guy on second with 0 outs. Your batter is the #9 hitter (a career minor leaguer) and you don't but him over to get up one of the hottest hitters in baseball? Absolutely ridiculous. 2. Your in a stretch of games where you need some length from your starters....your starter goes 5 innings and has his cleanest inning in the 5th and you pull him..........with 57 pitches? 57 pitches? Are you f'in me? Is Archer in high school? Is his shoulder attached by a rubber band? I GUARANTEE Archer didn't want to come out. It's the most Rocco move possible. 3. You bring in your closer in the 6th inning. You can debate how valuable a closer is all you want, but it's obvious if you watch baseball, some guys are meant for late innings, and some guys aren't. If you give Archer the 6th (at least) you are MUCH better situated to end that game. Instead you blow your wad in the 6th and 7th and somehow would still have to get 6 more outs......so stupid. 4. Who was pitching the 9th if the Twins had the lead? If you say Duffey, I might reach through the computer and grab you by the throat. There's a few other moves that blow my mind, but my fingers are tired and I need a drink. I've defended Rocco since he was hired. I'm done. Fire Rocco. That is all.
  3. If he's willing, I'd give him a try as a 7th-8th inning guy who just comes in lets it fly.
  4. My Dad took me to a game at the Metrodome against the Yankees when I was about 10 and we sat in the first row behind the bullpen down the 3rd base line. Butch Wynegar (playing for the Yanks) hit a pop up down the line that bounced off the turf and my Dad caught it. For some reason, I was a big Ron Davis fan. Waited till after the game and asked if he would sign my ball. He was a total prick, said no and walked away. We were about to leave and my Dad pointed to a group of people by the Twins dugout. I walked over and Kirby was standing there signing autographs and talking to fans. This was before he was a mega-star but I was at the back of the line and thought there was no way he'd stick around till it was my turn. He stood there for at least 45 minutes and made sure that everyone that had something to sign got it done. When it was my turn, I dropped the ball down to him.....he asked if I was a player, i told him i was a pitcher. He asked righty or lefty? I told him lefty. He said that gave me a headstart and I'd probably be striking him out in a few years. Never forget this. The ball still sits on my office desk today.
  5. Personally, I thought Detroit's starting pitcher looked really good. Tall, strong lefty who was hitting the corners with a 95 MPH fastball with movement. He was a first round draft pick. Not chopped liver. You could see in the 5th his velocity dropped about 5 mph......the catcher saw it pretty quick. Hope he's ok. Sands deserved a little better. How is Polanco's play in the 2nd inning considered a hit?? He's a major leaguer and that play HAS to be made with 2 outs. Directly cost us 2 runs. Tigers bullpen is pretty good. I'd swap our bullpen with theirs right now.
  6. Moran is a lefty......
  7. Could he be a bullpen solution?
  8. Cano is not ready for the big-time. Who's next? Minaya? Canterino? Any word as to if everything was ok physically with Ober? Radio commentators were mentioning his velocity in the last inning was 89-90 instead of his normal 92 range.....
  9. Man....I wish I was as optimistic as you are. Duffey, Stashak Cano, and Megill are just not high-leverage guys right now. And Pagan is not far behind. Romero? Yuck. Henriguez and Strotman aren't getting guys out in the minors Strotman has been terrible. i've heard nothing about Alcala and i think that is bad news. He went on the 60 day really quick, which I fear means more than just a sore arm. I think a move is necessary right now. Just my opinion.
  10. I posted in another thread, but would Gordon and a marginal prospect (Sands, Strotman, or Moran) get us Lopez from Baltimore or Trevino from Oakland in return? I would give Canterino a shot in the bullpen. I think his motion and max effort fits in the pen rather than as a starter. He reminds me of James Karinchak who came up a couple of years ago with Cleveland and was lights out for a while before injuries. Front office can't afford to wait.
  11. Would Gordon and Sands get us a decent relief pitcher? Need to make a move NOW and get Lewis and Kiriloff back on this roster.
  12. Ump's strike zone got ridiculous in the 8th.....
  13. 80 pitches for Smeltzer.....crusing. What a crushing loss....
  14. I'd love to see what CB Buckner's accuracy rate is tonight on balls and strikes.....he's terrible for both teams.
  15. By those standard, there are no aces in today's baseball, correct?
  16. First....Seriously.....where are all the Pagan haters? Dude was awesome tonight. He has NASTY stuff----97 with the heater and that split finger on a 3-2 count was filthy. Sub 2 ERA----get off his back and let him pitch. Secondly....what makes everyone think Buxton isn't 100%??? He's in a slump, pure and simple. He's swinging at bad pitches and pulling off everything. To me, it looks like he's trying to hit a homerun on every pitch. That's got nothing to do with a knee or hip or whatever else they say he has. Did his body cause the ball in center to clang off his glove? Hell no. I'm sick of treating him like some kind of baby. Last....it's time to take the training wheels off of Archer. I blame nobody but Rocco for this. In his last inning he gave up a walk and a HBP....no hits. He strikes out the last batter of the 4th. He's sitting at 72 pitches (which isn't too bad through 4 innings) and he's pulled. I'm sure he didn't beg out of the game. No reason he couldn't have gone back out for the 5th. He looks healthy and strong.. I sincerely believe that he would've been pulled even if he had a no-hitter going It's ridiculous. Rocco is absolutely gonna run his bullpen into the ground.
  17. You mean have a great AB with a professional eye at the plate? Ump should be embarrassed....
  18. Strike one and strike three were not even close.......ridiculous.
  19. I don't pretend to predict the future, but I will say I've never seen a player look so lost in his first go-round in the major league as compared to his second chance. He's a testament to people jumping the gun and saying that Player X sucks right out of the gate. We need to show the same type of patience with Miranda.....
  20. Please tell me the failures.....and lets not rehash the Rogers trade as that's up for debate.
  21. How could he think this would be taken as a joke when they were already beefing with each other over a slide into 3rd base last week? As I've said repeatedly, Donaldson is a douche bag.....
