  1. Elephant in the room. Twins reluctance to draft arms with their first round picks and when they do, failure or bad luck in developing them. If you truly want to develop top of the rotation arms, once in awhile you have to take a chance at drafting them with your 1st round picks.
  2. It is substantial, but they targeted the wrong guys. The play here was the pry top of the rotation pitching potential away from them if you are trading the AL batting champ. Even if we'd have had to add, getting Luzardo, Cabrera or one of their top pitching prospects was the way. Instead we get a #3 starter and another top infield prospect. One or the other. Get Luzardo or Cabrea. Or take Lopez but insist on pitching a pitching prospect as well.
  3. Don't like it. Why couldn't they pry Lopez and/or one of their other pitchers. I feel like they wasted one of our better chips here for more mediocre pitching and middle infield logjam help. Who knows what else it would have taken, but I think the chance here was a add top of the rotation help, and they didn't. Luzardo, Cabrera or one of their better pitching prospects. Dang!
  4. I would prefer if Aaraez is moved, it is for the higher upside guys. I'm glad they turned down a 1 for 1 swap for Lopez. If we have a shot at either or both of Cabrera or Luzardo, then I am fine with giving him + ALMOST whatever it takes, up.(No Lewis or Miranda)
  5. Yes, and shows they are all in with he and Buxton, Miranda, and the young pitchers as our core. Now was as good a time as any with all these young guys filling the roster for cheap. Let's hope that pitching staff can develop or they go out at some point in the next 1-3 years and add that top of the rotation stud.
  6. Wow! Any chance his physical holds it up with us also? "Pending physical".
  7. Holy ****, they did it and on a great deal. This is perfect, have him until he is 34. We get his prime years
  8. Bullpen help is what I want, whether it is one of Fulmer/Chafin or a trade for someone that is an actual impact reliever, they need upgrades to the pen IMO. Other than that, nothing on that list.
  9. I think it would be a mistake to move Miranda. He is young and looks like he can be an impact hitter. A stud if you will. His defense is mediocre, but I think moving a guy like this when you don't seriously hope to contend for a bit isn't smart. You will also have a chance to move him later if you think Lee or Lewis takes over 3rd and/or SS. The only way I want Miranda moved for the Marlins starters would be if they will give up their Cy Young winner. Then do whatever is necessary.
  10. Yes, maybe. I just feel like he will be all but worthless those last 5 years. Maybe 5/200 would be better. My point is we have alot of young cheap guys right now, so spend it while we can. Later in that contract, maybe we will be giving that extra money to Lewis.?
  11. I don't think it works that way. Boras, IS the market maker. He controls all the best free agents, so teams literally have to come to him. He has more power than any team does. I HATE the guy and think he is bad for the game and ruining it, but I don't think this statement is anything other than NY media making it seem like they are super important or giving their fans more hope.
  12. 5/225. No opt outs, no protections for the Twins if he's injured. Offer it and see if he bites. Maybe this type of deal has already been discussed with the Mets. But it sure is looking like Carlos is either going to have to accept a deal like this, or something like the deal he had in place with all kinds of protections, etc against his injury.
  13. Like, I don't want to move Polanco. He is signed for 3 more years. If the Twins plan on competing with this next core of players, there is no reason he can't be a part of it. If they flat out tank this year and looks as if none of the pitching we have in the pipeline is going to pan out, then explore it. But I don't move him until it is clear we will have to rebuild for a few seasons in a row.
  14. Not sure you can trade him right now and if you do, it better bring back pitching. He is one of, if not the Twins best player. Go ahead and trade a productive hitter that plays a good 2nd base that is under team control for cheap for a player in A ball. I mean if the team tanks then I guess explore it. But I don't like giving up a guy in his prime that is being paid peanuts for what he should be making unless he brings back some real bacon.
  15. Feels like another dumpster move. I'm fine with it ONLY if you can get him on a one-year deal. I don't trust any of our starters to be healthy this season. Literally every guy in our rotation had some time off last year. It's laughable really. If this gives them more depth to feel secure, great. But make it so that the contract is one that you can DFA him immediately if he struggles or if your young guys grab spots and run. 100% this signing would be no different than Bundy or Archer. Signing this guy does not mean that the Twins cannot still trade for pitching that slots 1-2. It probably doesn't matter either way as our bullpen is still looking terrible. I cannot believe they haven't addressed this by going out and getting power arms. The team that wants to do nothing but use 4-5 bullpen guys per game and we are not going to address this area of the team at all.?
  16. I like Gordon over both Larnach and Kiriloff if I had to chose. He can run, he stays healthy and the guy has some fire to him. IMO he sees alot more at bats than those other 2 next year. Of course, like has been said, both of those 2 probably have more potential to be better hitters. I just don't trust that they will stay healthy. It would be huge for the Twins if they can both toughen up a little and play ball.
  17. I agree. Teams want up the middle players unless their bat is special. Heck, I would bet when drafted most players towards the top are either CF, SS, C or Pitchers. Kepler sure looked like he was the real deal in 2019, but although he was injured, he had a terrible year last year. Not sure what he is worth, but I still think it is a prospect for sure out of the top 100.
  18. If we could get that kind of return for Max, I think it's a good trade. Alex Meyer, although he bombed was a top 100 prospect in baseball at the time he was traded for wasn't he?
  19. If Lee + Aareaz for Burnes gets it done, count me in on lets go for it. Heck I would throw in SWR also(I don't think he is more than #4 starter, I could be wrong!) Duran, flat out is a non-starter for me in any talks. There is a chance this guy is a top 2-3 reliever/closer in baseball with an arm we have never seen in a Twins uniform. He is the only one I would have as off limits. And honestly, Joe Ryan and either Lee or Aareaz I'm all for that as well. Burnes is an ACE. A bonafide #1 starter. Lee is a MAYBE, Ryan is a #3-4 starter and Aareaz, although a great hitter is a terrible defender. The way I would build a team if I had a chance would be to swing hard for young players that are real studs like this. Is it correct? I don't know, but what I do know if that filling holes with mid to bottom level players in FA and then trading for #3-4 starters and/or relievers that profile and mid-tier at best hasn't gotten it done over the years.
  20. Maybe but I think the play IF you are going to move Aareaz is to make it for pitching and high end stuff at that. Otherwise, I would rather just keep him and wait for Lewis/Lee.
  21. My guess, the Twins knew he would go for over 300 mill, so they dropped in an offer for 285. They have done it in the past multiple times. It's called a token offer and I would bet my house that if Boras called them back and said "hey we are good with you 285 offer" that the Twins would pull it. I don't trust any Twins FO/owner and never will. We have seen this game played way too many times...
  22. Then it's worth it I suppose if they would bite. That said, I feel like Aareaz is one of our better trade chips, so would rather see us package him up for top pitching than go after a corner of the diamond player for one year or that we would have to pay a bunch to right away. I know it's been said they aren't moving either of them, but I would be hard after Milwaukee's young starters. They would have more impact on this team long term than anyone else I can see out there right now(that is semi-available)
  23. I would be all for the MLB reliever. Especially if it is someone who throws hard or has some interesting pitch. A prospect in that range would also be a good return IMO if that is the kind of guy he fetches.
  24. I suppose you are right. Max Kepler + 2.5 mill for Gallo and whatever prospect he nets you back.
  25. Kepler's trade value? By himself, my guess would be basically a lottery pick type prospect. Someone not in a teams top 20 guys for sure. This is why picking up Gallo made zero sense. They are very similar players. So we are going to pay someone more money to do the same job and we are going to move the guy we have for a nobody...
