If you want a solid defensive SS to back up Correa why not deal with the Dodgers to get Noah Miller back. He is a 65 grade defensively and played at 2A last year. He is already better than most MLB shortstops and albeit the bat would not be great his arm grades at 60 and he runs at 50. Let's bring the kid back home. We could find something the Dodgers need if we make a minor league trade.

I'd say NO. Not unless the new ownership was willing to add to the team in other areas as well. I think our best chance is to build the young talent and build a team around Jenkins. We could use a top of the order leadoff hitter with speed + a talented right handed hitting outfielder. We don't have any talented left handed pitching in the rotation or even in the bullpen. Minnesota is not built to beat people with power and we don't really have team speed to beat teams on the base paths. At best, we have good starters that might get us to the playoffs but are not legit enough to carry us deep into the playoffs. We need to star that can carry us in the playoffs. In my life the only guy that fits that profile is Kirby Puckett. He put the team on his shoulders. I thought that would be the case with Joe Mauer but honestly the dude never won a playoff game. Not even one. I think some combination of Brooks Lee, Royce Lewis, Luke Keaschall, Rodriquez, and Walker Jenkins reminds me of the young Twins that ultimately won the world series. Don't put that at risk. It's our best shot.

The Minnesota Twins Are Active In the Trade Market
JesusisLord7 replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I think the Twins should only sell on Lopez or Correa if they are really selling high on prospects that are highly touted. Someone like Vazquez I'd trade him for any 16 year old that has high upside just to move the contract. I might do the same with Buxton because he is hurt a lot. Let's move on. Maybe trade him to the Braves so he can move back home to Georgia. He's good at times but it's a bad contract. It's time to make space for Rodriquez at the big league level and I think Kiersey deserves a back up role. -
I know that's not how he really gets paid but I'm just trying to measure his productivity.

Buxton made 15 million base on playing 102 games. If you took what he gets paid base on 102 games like 147,000 per game then if he played like 162 games like many players he's be making like near 24 million per season. It's really a bad contract.

I'm keep Correa. However, if I had to move a contract I'd trade Buxton. Even if I had to basically give that contract away. If a person got all into the math and broke his career down to how much he is paid versus how many minutes he is actually on the field I'd guess using such a ratio he would be the ultimate recipient of welfare. Move that contract and Vasquez for draft pick capital and be done with it. Buxton is 31. If he can't stay healthy at like 25 it is not going to get better only worse. The dude gets a boo boo and he is on the IR.

I seem to remember when we were playing the Astros in the playoffs the only Twins rising up to the occasion was Lewis. I'd rather trade Carlos Correa and his salary than Lewis. But then again the Marlins don't want to pay anyone. They can have Julian. If they want an outfielders I'd trade Wallner and Larnach. Personally I'd rather move Correa, Lopez, and Buxton and build around..... Rodriguez, Jenkins and Wallner in OF Lewis at 3rd (Marcelo Mayer from Boston SS in Lopez trade), Lee 2nd and Julian 1st Jeffers Catcher Luke Keaschall DH and 1B

Caminiti is the son of Ken Caminiti former Astro player. I'm in Arizona. He is polished. Really good outfielder as well. Sometimes you need to role with the bloodlines.

I don't like the pick at all. Maybe he'll work out but you have Cam Caminiti a left handed pitcher who is the clear top kid on the board and we pass. Aren't we really shallow on LP in our system? Son of an MLB player. This pick gave me the same vibe as when we passed on Corbin Carroll for Keoni Cavaca. Look how that one turn out. We bypass the obvious move. Passed on Mike Trout back in the day and we passed on Aaron Judge. I'm so onboard for what the Wild, T-wolves and Vikes are doing but not liking this at all.

I think we need more depth for left handed relief. But more importantly we need to pave a way for a player like Austin Martin who I think offers more upside than Nick Gordon. I've never seen Okert play ever but the numbers aren't bad and he is a veteran arm at a position that we lacked depth. No complaints here. Wish Nick Gordon all the best in Miami.

Gonzalez. Maybe this kid will be right handed DH. Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 50 | Run: 50 | Arm: 45 | Field: 45 | Overall: 55

MLB.COM has Gabriel Gonzalez now as the 4th best Twins prospect. This kid must be much better than we think.

. Gabriel Gonzalez, OF, 19, Single-A There were three prospects fighting for this top spot, but Gabriel Gonzalez’s ceiling might be the highest in the system. In 63 games between the Arizona Complex League and Single-A, Gonzalez compiled a .321/.410/.468 slash line with 7 HR and 9 SB. Over his 150 PA in Single-A, Gonzalez maintained a 116 wRC+, not bad for a player almost 2 years younger than the average age for the level. Gonzalez has a stockier build, so he’ll definitely need to tap into his power more for there to be a an All-Star here. The upshot is that Gonzalez has maintained elite plate and contact skills despite being young for every level he’s played in. Calling him the next JRod is probably hyperbole, but there’s also a lot to like.

I like it. Polanco was just blocking better players. We got a starter who might fight to be .500 and a right handed power prospect that could be the gem. Either way Polanco is out of the way and it paves the way for Julien and maybe Brooks Lee who need to play.

I like the signing. We have few athletes on our team. If he improved to a .265 to .270 hitter then you have something really special. He did hit .265 in his age 24 season. Barely played in the age 25 season. He could light up the base-pads if he improved as a hitter. As a kid, I watched Rickey Henderson and he was so disruptive. We need to find some players that play in that manner. Thompson, A. Martin, and Lewis all intrigue me. Buxton will be hurt or I'd include him too.

Let's shop Carlos Correa around the league for pitching. I want to keep Brooks Lee to play shortstop. Keep the young players together. No on Brooks Lee and no on Jenkins. I'm willing to trade Kirilloff, Larnach, Kepler, Polanco, Ober, and Vasquez. The only prospect that I'd deal to the Marlins would be Rodriquez.

I really dislike Falvey as the GM and frankly I don't understand him. I'd be moving Polanco, Vasquez and Kepler NOW for a high upside prospects and reinvesting the money saved for pitching. Those 3 contracts might get you enough money to go get a Blake Snell. Does anyone think we could use a legit left handed starter? When is the last time we had one of those? Francisco Liriano for a 1/2 season until he got hurt and was never the same? And why not trade high upside minor leaguers for high upside minor leaguers? Our team is so out of balance and we sit idle. I speak as direct as I can. We will never win a world series with Polanco in our lineup. Ditch the guy. I'd even be willing to move Carlos Correa for elite pitching and let Brooks Lee roll at short stop. We need more guys like Pablo Lopez if we are really ever going to contend.

No. I love Arraez. But what we need is a top shelf starting pitcher. I'd move Julien to 1st base and start Brooks Lee at 2nd. I'd trade Polanco for a 17 year old with high upside just to free up cash. If you are guying to trade good prospects it has to be someone that can take the ball in the playoffs and contend well. I think there is a bunch of sentimental like for Arraez but that does not at all fit what we need to win. He is a defensive liability as well even though he is a machine with the bat.

We are a team that had 18 or so consequetive playoff loses while Polanco and Kepler played. How are we better with them on the field. Maybe the opportunity is getting to this next generation of Twins. Lets roll with Brooks Lee. The Shrewd business man takes what he can get and dumps these players who spent their whole career losing. Go get that 17 year old rookie ball player as compensation. The opportunity is take the cash and address needs and the opportunity is letting Brooks Lee and Ed Julian play. I'd move Julian to 1st base and put Kirilloff back to the outfield or trade him.
-
I would trade Polanco for a high upside 17 year old and just get that payroll off the books. We do not need him. Turnaround and use the money saved toward pitching. There is no reason to bury a kid like Brooks Lee or Ed Julien for a player who is inferior to both of them. I personally would move Julien to 1st base and bring up Lee. Kiriloff can go to the outfield or use him as an asset.
