  1. Totally agree, Keeping Rose out of the HOF at this point in time is just sheer .... ugh, a lot of words apply, but the point is; lift this ridiculous ban and let the guy in the hall before he leaves this planet. He was a helluva player. Okay, I'm drifting from the topic of this article too, so all I will add it that I expect the Twins to exceed those win projections, and as for players, Lewis, will blow away the projections!
  2. I was also mystified by that photo. Why is this Astros player featured in the article. But yes, I think you are right: Goodrum was very briefly a member of that team, and nobody else mentioned in this article was with Houston (apart from Robbie Grossman, many years ago) so it must be him. But I agree: all of these articles really should have captions with the photos. Great site otherwise!
  3. It does feel wrong, or at least baffling. Still a lot of good players who haven't signed yet. I saw that Elvis Andrus just signed a minor league deal with Arizona, and was invited to camp, and C.J. Cron signed a similar deal with the Red Sox. No guarantees for many veterans nowadays.
  4. I have a feeling we will be seeing a similar article in TD a year from now. Julien is no doubt a very talented hitter, but I'm not so sure the second base will remain his position for the duration of this decade. At any rate, I think he's more comfortable at second going into this season, and I hope that reflects on his overall play.
  5. I think some sort of trade in July is more likely, but I still wouldn't be totally shocked if something happens before the end of March.
  6. Yeah, I think the comparison is a big stretch. Solano was a dependable bat, and could play various positions if needed. Severino certainly has potential, especially with his power, but the strikeout rate is a big concern. It was noted that he was young for his league last year, but does that really factor into the strikeout rate?
  7. And what has become of our old friend Eddie Rosario?
  8. As we head into the month of March it looks the Twins are pretty much set to start the regular season. Not many, if any, position battles to think about. Or ... could there still be something else brewing? There have been SOME trades that occur during spring training, but it's rare that happens. What do others on this board think? Could there still be a surprise trade of some magnitude that happens before the season opens?
  9. Has any team signed Solano or Taylor yet?
  10. I liked this trade. Although Miller looks like he has elite defensive skills, it's still uncertain if his bat will play in the majors. I always liked Margot with the Rays. I was exchanging e-mails with a friend back in Tampa and he said this: That was a nice pickup by the Twins. Margot is a solid player and a solid clubhouse presence. And I agree. I think Margot will be a very useful player for the Twins this season.
  11. Hard to say at this point. Spring Training has started and Taylor still hasn't signed with any team. He may not get the money he was hoping for.
  12. Yes indeed, trying to maintain an effective bullpen seems sometimes to be a game of chance. We look good on paper right now, but who knows how the pen performs the first month or two. I foresee a few quick callups.
  13. Good article, but yet another photo of a player who remains unidentified. For those who are out of the mainstream loop like me, it would helpful to help us identify the players in the photos!
  14. I think the bullpen mix might change before opening day too. I'm still not convinced that the 4 news arms we added will all be there on opening day. Injuries are another wild card. As you noted, a player like Alcala or Funderburk could definitely snag that last spot.
  15. I say ixnay on him too. Our in-house options look better than picking up a vet with diminishing skills.
  16. Seth, what is your feeling on the transactions front? Is there still a chance that the Twins sign a free agent of some type, or swing another trade before opening day? Or is the current roster basically what we are getting?
  17. Agreed, He was having a good year for the Angels last year until that injury. Liked him with the Twins, so I wish him luck ... even with the Tigers!
  18. That would be my hope/expectation too. If his ERA is anywhere near 4.28 I would be very disappointed. I'm really high on Paddack going into this season, so I sure hope he can stay healthy and be a reliable member of the rotation.
  19. Probably the most likely scenario is an injury to one of the starters, making a Lee callup a necessity. Right now, just too many cooks in the kitchen for him to get any meaningful MLB playing time with the Twins. I hope he's a patient man!
  20. Just hang around the local Wal-Mart for a few hours.
  21. Fun it is! For a 1-year deal Montgomery seems like the safest choice, in my opinion, but I'm also intrigued at the idea of adding a fully productive Bellinger for a year. Despite our need for another top-flight arm in the rotation, I think I might opt for the absurd idea of Bellinger for a year. We can just slug our way to a pennant.
  22. With his arm, Prielipp is obviously an intriguing pitching prospect. Looking ahead, at what point, or rather which year, will he need to be added to the 40-man roster, or risk losing him to another team?
  23. I'm still hoping that Dobnak can fully recover from that finger injury and make it back to MLB, hopefully with the Twins, in the near future. I realize that it's a longshot at this point, but I love these sorts of "left field" stories.
