  1. Reid Detmers would be a more worthwhile reclamation project than Sandoval and cheaper.
  2. Larnach straight up isn't going to do it. I think it would take at least Lewis for the fish to even consider this trade. I would set my sights higher and make the Cubs an offer they can't refuse for Steele. Lewis, Julien, and Matthews?
  3. I'm intrigued by Reid Detmers! He can hit 98 with his fastball, he's a lefty, he's a former 1st rounder, and the Angels may feel like they can't count on him in the rotation. Not sure what we would have to give up (Morris?). Let him start with the Saints and if doesn't get it together by mid season as starter depth, move him to the Twins bullpen and tell him to let it rip for a few innings and solve our lefty in the pen vacancy.
  4. A 35 year old lefty with rotator cuff issues? A hard pass on Solano and Canha, no more aging vets. We still need a catcher to replace Vasquez which will require a couple of our top prospects or Duran and a lesser prospect if you want Teel or Rushing.
  5. I think Duran and Castro for Rushing is the best proposal likely to be done. Dodgers need to replace Grateral and Ki'ke Hernandez and we need a catcher, although my priority is to trade prospect capital for Casas and his 40 HR potential because free agent money for Walker isn't going to happen. Yes, I would trade Lopez and Duran for Casas, Teel, and Rafaela. I think Boston will miss out on Crochet and won't pay for the few top free agent pitchers making this deal more likely.
  6. Rafaela would solve the SS & CF backup the Twins need making Castro expendable. How about Festa, Morris, and Duran for Teel and Rafaela?
  7. I agree that it needs to be Teel or no deal with the Bosox. I think O'hoppe is a better option for the Twins. The Angels can get an ace without paying mega free agent prices and the Angels have just the right handed corner outfielder we desperately need in Taylor Ward. So the Twins send Lopez, Wallner, Julien, and Raya to the Angels for O'hoppe, Ward, Anderson, and Detmers. Salaries match up at about 23 million per side. O'hoppe will be expensive in trade capital but immediately improves our catching. Anderson is a drop off in the rotation for a year but a solid starter that could be extended. Emma will move in to RF at some point in 2025, moving Ward to LF and upgrading that position too. If Detmers can finally figure it out at AAA, (he is a 1st round draft pick) we add starter depth or move him to the pen for a much needed left handed option.
  8. Teel is the catching prospect at the top of my wish list but you are correct that it will take more than Duran to get him. If the Bosox want a top prospect to make the deal I would offer either Keaschall or Raya. If they say no, offer Julian. Catching is going to be expensive!
  9. Nobody is giving up their next CyYoung pitching prospect for Lewis until he plays a 150 game season with all star results. Until then, he's not a "franchise" type player you want to believe in. Pardon the pun but leg injuries are the Achilles heel of baseball players (see Buxton).
  10. The Rays won't take on any of his salary because they don't need to. At least 2 teams that have the money to pay him need a 1st baseman ( NY & Houston).
  11. The Twins don't really have a choice. They're not signing a free agent, and nobody is going to give up a good starting catcher or a top catching prospect in a trade unless we give up 1 or 2 of our top prospects or 1 of our top starters and a 3-7 type prospect that another team really wants.
  12. Castro for Rushing saves 6.5 million to aquire Mountcastle for 1st base (for Matthew's or Raya) and nets a top MLB ready catcher, solidifying 2 positions of need. Now I trade Lopez to the Bosox for center fielder Duran and move Buxton to LF and trade Vasquez to the Astros for 5 million cash saving 5 million. Now you have 25 million to spend on pitching if the Pohlads don't pocket it!
  13. I think the Dodgers would take Castro straight up for Rushing and I would do it. They will need to replace Kike who is older and a free agent and the Twins can do without Castro until Keuchel gets a few months at AAA.
  14. Twins will dump Paddock's 7.5 million so it's Festa's 5th starter job to lose. I'd swap Kirilloff for Detmers and piggy back Detmers after Festa and see if we can get a lefty long reliever out of the deal.
  15. Ryan Mountcastle from the O's for prospects. Paddocks $7.5 million to pay for it.
  16. Kikuchi will be the more expensive in salary and prospect capital so Paxson is more likely for the Twins. Scott will be the most in demand for a left handed reliever. The trifecta is Kikuchi, Scott, and Lane Thomas replacing Thielbar, Farmer, and Margot! Wishful thinking but doable.
  17. I don't agree that it's an overpay. Teams that are willing to spend money will be able to aquire Gausman without Toronto paying down his salary which the Twins aren't willing to do because of their self imposed payroll limits.
  18. Julien, Kiirilloff, Soto or Matthews, and any other prospect they want not named Jenkins or Rodriguez to the Whities for Fedde and Kopech.
  19. I know Pablo is getting a big raise in 2025 but I count 28 million coming off the books next year if you add up Kepler, Farmer, Thielbar, Santana, & Margot. That said, it seems like the Twins can add for this year and set themselves up for 2025 by acquiring Lane Thomas to replace Kepler For next year and giving the Twins the right handed bat they need now and getting Mackenzie Gore from the Nats who has a few more years of control at a reasonable cost. A package of Lee or Julien, Kirilloff, and 2 top 10 prospects not named Jenkins or Rodriguez should get it done.
  20. Rocco goes with his left on left "match-up" when Varland has given up 1 hit with 60 pitches and the right handed batter hits a 3 run homer off Thielbar who has been awful. Shouldn't we try to actually win the game at this juncture instead of putting in your worst reliever because the Rockies led off the inning with a left handed batter?
  21. After an excellent 2023 season, Lane Thomas of the Nats would solve the right hand hitting left field bat the Twins need (although he was injured earlier this year and plays right field now). He would cost some good prospect capital. Danny Janson would make a great addition to pair with Jeffers if the Twins could find someone to take Vasquez and eat half of his salary.
