  1. Yikes...never thought I would say this but it may be time to trade Buxton. He was signed and being paid to be a more than DH and very part-time outfielder. He needs more "rest" days than this team can afford His value is a combination of all his skills. With his salary gone, they could get close to a #1 starter. I love him and wish it would have worked out better. Perhaps a team with a better training staff or tougher coach can get him back to what he should be.
  2. All sports are different. In professional sports in general IMO players and owners are looking more at $$$$ and extending careers more than anything else. I think in the MLB in general is more focused on limiting playing time of players than conditioning that will lead to fewer injuries. It is crazy but the number of injuries and games sat out seems to be getting higher every year.
  3. Could just be trying to be funny but I didn't take any offense to it. Just trying to add a little humor during this time of extreme frustration with the Twins in general.
  4. Not a surprising loss. A tad embarrassing but totally expected when playing team with almost a .700 win PCT. Even though the outcome probably wouldn't have changed, Buxton needs to be in center field when playing the great teams as well as any game against Cleveland and CWS. Same goes with Correa! Resting them only against teams where the Twins have little chance to win (NYY for example). But it makes no sense to rest them at all, if we don't win the ALC they will have plenty of rest time. This is not a game we will look back on as a reason not to make the play-offs even though Cleveland is now tied with the Twins in the ALC and likely to take the lead after today. What they need to look at is the 20 games lost to their division rivals. What went wrong and what to change going forward. Especially with the 8 remaining games with Cleveland and 6 against Chicago. They especially don't want to give up any games against Detroit (3) and KC (6).
  5. I would rather have Correa than anyone else.
  6. I feel bad but he has a good chance of getting picked up by a better team. This could be the best thing that could happen and he might be happier.
  7. Fans want to have a solid, somewhat consistent line-up. Seeing Buxton bat a few times is not good enough. He needs to be in the field making spectacular plays that the average fans love. We paid over $300 for 3 lower level tickets where Buxton did not play and Correa was out injured. It was horrible before the rainout the Twins didn't even have a hit. That makes for boring baseball and makes fans less likely to shell out that much money for a baseball game. If they could sign and willing to pay for highly sought after players they would sell more tickets. They got Correa but for what 1 year? Not good enough. It has been the same forever and doesn't appear to ever change.
  8. My theory is the good players do not want to play here. How hard they tried to keep Berrios is unknown but I don't think it was about money. He wanted to try out free-agency so they panicked and got 2 prospects that don't appear to be that good, do they know how to evaluate prospects? It has been a while since any of our first round prospect amounted to much. What player in the prime of their career would want to go to a team that historically won't go for the big names to get to a WS? The team cannot win in the play-offs. We are mostly known as a team that is always in the "get by" mode and not the Win Now mode.
  9. I am going to GUESS that Berrios did not want to spend his prime years here which could also have been a barrier the Twins could not overcome. Players/AllStars at the top if their game most likely don't want to waste their time on a team that will not go all out. Thinking Sano is hoping to get DFA'd so he can get out too.
  10. Where are the prospects we got for him? Are they going to amount to anything? All this talk of buying or trading for a top pitcher we when had a good one to start with.
  11. It’s always “next year”. And there is the fact that not many prospects survive. I feel like we wait forever and then they are injured most often. Don’t you get sick of next year?
  12. First place in the AL Central isn’t much to brag about. When they fall out of 1st I don’t think they would get a wild card.
  13. Remember when a album got a scratch and it would repeat over and over? Seems we have been listening to the same album for more than 10 years. That is what it is like being a Twins fan.
  14. I sometimes wonder if they purposely set the team up to lose so they have excuses to let the Correa’s of the world go and go into the wait till next year mode.
  15. The Twins MO. Not this year. Go get C-D players just to do something. Yes they got Correa last year but all that did is give us a bit of hope for this year and get people to buy tickets but the short lived Correa era is nearly over so why not go out and buy big. Sick to death of waiting for the promising young core that never seem to get here MLB ready and when they do get here they are too injured to last a season.
  16. They absolutely should get help with pitching or what is the sense of owning a MLB team? Seems profits is the reason the Pohlad's own a MLB team.
  17. Exactly. If they had any luck getting prospects to above MLB average or even MLB ready is not very good. By the time some get here they are plagued with injuries. The only successes (above average) are Buxton and Berrios and only one of those left the other traded for below average prospects. If they were average or above they would be here now!
  18. 2 good starting pitchers, a closer and dependable bullpen to start with. Getting Correa for just one year? There is really nothing left after him. Plus they can afford all of these. I don't know what team you have been watching for the last 10 years but it is always hoping for prospects to be ready AND contribute or signing a veteran on the last leg of their careers hoping to get a decent year.
  19. So trade Simone for a decent pitcher after we traded Berrios for him? I don't know why we continue to fool ourselves into believing they will make a decent trade or even a blockbuster trade. They show no signs of keeping Correa. I have a hard time believing they want to improve the team at all. Eventually you would think this would really hurt revenue which is $268 million, salaries 137 + operating expenses. If they really wanted a winning team they would have kept Berrios, go all out on Correa and adding another above average starter and IMO a whole new bull pen or at least have a good closer. TEAM IS WORTH 1.39 BILLION.
  20. If they want to win they have to spend. If not we will go on our merry way hoping for a great player to emerge.
  21. Probably a stupid question but why get a SS for you top pick. We have Lewis (or is he a wasted #1) and hopefully they get Correa back. I could understand needing a back-up SS but certainly there would be a decent pick farther down
  22. They need to buy buy buy! Figure out who is not going to make it and let them go. Sick of waiting for prospects to be MLB ready or even worse letting our MLB players go for more prospects!
  23. IMO....this organization is not very good at developing, especially pitching. So draft some good ones and trade them for MLB ready average-above average pitchers. Seems we wait forever for nothing.
