    Obviously nobody wants Polanco to play short next season. Rumors have the Twins signing Semien. I would rather have Didi but would rather not trade for Baez- as good as he is. What does Lewis have left to do before getting a shot at becoming the regular shortstop? I'd put Polanco there, let Lewis back him up by playing twice a week to see what he can do. Otherwise, 3 years from now we'll be talking about why he never got a chance (though I'm not sold on him ever making it). If we are going to give up prospects, I'd rather do it for pitching.

    I've always liked Archer's arm but his major league career has never panned out. I'd give him 5 mil for a 2 year contract if he is healthy. Right now that is the big question.

    It's hard to tell whether this is a good signing but 2 mil is high for the past season. Let's hope he can contribute something positive and not be taking a spot from a youngster with better outcomes.

    I'm not sold on Thorpe and we'll have to see if Dobnick can bounce back. It would be nice to see a solid, 5 man rotation but today's games are won with a solid bullpen which we have seemingly lost since the end of the season. Let's shore that up and then build the youngsters.

    The Twins need to focus their energies on signing pitching and not on a utility player or new shortstop. If they keep Polanco at short (which I believe they should), then sign Profar as a utility player. If they go out and sign another shortstop, then trade Polanco for some value. I'm not crazy about any of the other choices though I'd take Didi over anyone else. As far as second, leave Arraez alone and hope that he continues to hit.

    Buxton would be great if we could keep him on the field but he's too injury prone. Cave has improved a bit but is not your every day answer. Bradley would be a good backup if we would sign him. At least he prevents runs. I don't see any of the minor leaguers as being an answer but would be curious to see how Urbina develops.

    Part of the reason pitchers are babied today goes back to those A's teams whose pitchers were ineffective after another year. Some believe it was because they threw too many innings. Well, tell that to Bob Gibson or Don Drysdale, etc. That's bunk as far as I'm concerned. Today's pitchers also throw pitches with various grips and arm twists that start in Little League and carry through the minors and just don't have the arm or leg strength to go very far. Finally, they don't know how to pitch so they can't get through a lineup the third time. All they know if how to throw 95+ mph. It's disgusting just like all this bull talk of launch angles and mph off the bat by the hitters. Who gives a darn? That's not baseball. The Twins can't win in the playoffs because they have no clue how to move a runner from second to third with no outs or how to drive in runs. That's the problem with a Bomba squad.

    If Hand is so wanting to pitch here, he should be able to be signed for a bargain- say 2 years at 12 million tops. I had read reports that he was slowing down a bit but he has been a top reliever and would be a boost to the pen. The problem is when will he slow down. Relievers tend to go 4-5 solid years then suddenly stop being effective. Also, signing both Hand and Hendricks makes no sense as both are closers and may not want to pitch in any other role. We also need a starter or two. Why not Paxton if he's healthy? We also have prospects to trade to get a starter or two like Castillo. Other teams have good, young strong pitchers for middle relief. How about us? Alcala? He looks ready since we were stupid to release Wisler.

    There should be no reason not to plan for a full season now that the vaccine is here. They can always have an alternative number of plans if teams get hit by the virus. All teams have lost money and will continue to lose money as long as they can't get at least 25% of the stadiums filled. They will then gain money once this is all over in 2022. If owners weren't so stupid to pay marginal players bunches of dollars, they wouldn't have lost as much as they (presumably) have.

    My wife says Cayahugas for the river. I say Rockers for the R&R hall of fame. Can the Braves be next? Then all the birds. Then the animals. Then ...... There is lots to go through before a name can be suggested because of trademarks and copyrights. Hopefully they will come up with a choice of 3-4 and let the fans vote. Personally, I didn't think Indians were terrible but can understand if Native American peoples think it's offensive. I always thought it was a recognition but what do I know.

    Though I was never the biggest fan of the Donaldson signing, I'm surprised that almost nobody mentioned the possibility of Sano moving back over- even if temporarily. Sano wasn't great but he wasn't terrible either. And first base might be easier to fill than third. I hope Gonzalez is resigned and that Donaldson doesn't get hurt again but chances are he will miss some games at some point.

    Wherever they play, I hope they stay in the IL as I always go to see Rochester play when they come to town. My questions about St Paul would be a) Does the rule about not having a minor league team within X number of miles come into play? and Would a St Paul AAA team take attendance away from the Twins as they would be much cheaper? And as for selling merchandise, almost anywhere outside of Minnesota there would be more Yankee, Dodger, etc stuff sold than Twins stuff. Sorry but that's just the facts ma'am.

    I have lived in a town that lost it's minor league team- twice. The first time, after Toronto left, we operated a team without a major league affiliate before securing a long term relationship with a major league team (Cleve). The second time, the town went 3 years before securing another team (Tex). And the town has one of the most beautiful ballparks in the country yet only has 25,000 people (75,000 in the county). The loss of the team was devastating to the economy, took away unity among it's people and left many without something to do on summer nights. Baseball is losing fans every year as kids no longer go out and play and many cannot afford the expenses of traveling teams that seem to be the landscape of the youth game today. I do not understand the cutting back on the minor leagues when teams spend millions on marginal players. And having a collegiate league may help somewhat (I live near a team) but it's just not the same.

    Utility men are always valuable and, while I like Gonzalez (and Profar), the fact is these types are in good supply and one should not overpay for them. I hope they keep Marwin and can get Profar while giving up Adrianza and/or Austudillo but I'll leave that to management.

    I think Rogers deserves another shot. His control wasn't that good in spots but there were times that he made good pitches that were hit off the end of the bat, etc. I still like Tony Watson of the Giants as a lefty specialist and would definitely try to re-sign May. A lower profile pitcher with closer experience like Soria or Trenien or keeping Clippard would help but we haven't had much luck in signing relievers from other teams. I would not count on Thielbar having a similar season to this year but he was a nice story. Alcala should continue to improve.

    I'd still put people in the stands with 4-5 per row, every other row and every other end of the row. That would get about 25-35% in the seats. I'd also have seat-side food and drink delivery and a monitor at the bathrooms. As far as free agents, there is always talk of salaries for many going down- especially those non tendered but it doesn't always happen. The top salaried players and those who happened to have a breakout year will get (over)paid. However, evaluating the free agents for next year is very tricky due to the shortened season. I would think there will be a flurry before Christmas then a break until Spring Training starts.

    There doesn't seem to be much here though Waddell could be ok. I can't see why they would let May go. I think that is a big mistake if they don't re-sign him. Clippard has the experience but generally doesn't do well but once every 3 seasons. I'm looking for bigger and better fish.

    I would keep Littell on the 40 man roster. The guy has proven that he can pitch in the majors even with a small sample. The only other option would be to trade him for a 6th or 7th round draft choice but I would not do this. Give him one more shot. You can always release him later.

    Well if baseball would adopt my rule that a batter can only have 2 fouls after two strikes, you would have starters going deeper and games going faster. There are several 8-10+ pitch at bats which greatly increase the number of pitches thrown per inning and game. I also feel that, at least for this year with very few days off-especially in the post-season, you can't have a starter go very far because you will need him again soon. However, during a normal season there is no reason to have a starter throw less than 90 pitches unless they are getting hammered. Pitchers today aren't as good as pitchers in the past because they don't vary the game plan and thus can't get through a lineup the third time. And several hitters know how to spoil many 2 strike pitches to prolong the at bat.

    I'm rooting for the Rays who i believe will bounce back after losing game one. However, I'm not sure they have enough hitting to beat the Dodgers. This season, except maybe for the playoffs, should be thrown out as it was too short to really consider teams like the Marlins a pennant contender. Also, some players and pitchers never recovered from bad starts. The only constant was the Twins losing in the playoffs- something we need to stop.

    Why should we go after injured players? Can we get a real medical report that will show he is worth the risk? Otherwise, we'll just have another mid-high priced player watching from who knows where. As for trading Rosey for him or anybody? That's a no-no in my book.

    Stroman has always been highly touted but has never lived up to it. He can be a good pitcher if healthy but we should not overpay for him. If we can get him for 7-8 million per year for 3 years and he is healthy, I'd be ok with that. However, it is a gamble.

    Nomo burst on the scene with his unorthodox delivery. Tanaka has been decent though not great. Darvish has finally lived up to expectations but we'll see what happens next. Maeda has been very good though had not been used that much until this year. Hopefully this guy is good and we can get him. As far as fastball velocity, I see where they say that Geratol (sp) whom we traded throws 100 mph but his ball doesn't have good movement. Speed isn't everything- especially now that many pitchers throw in the upper 90s. Hitters adjust.
