You gotta go for whatever they can I guess. The NFC as a whole is down. SF is beatable. Too bad the schedule is so hard. Today was largely a disappointment coming off the bye at home like that.

The next four games should be their toughest games all year. The following seven games all look winnable. NE on the road will be tough, but that's not a great team. The Bears week 18 is tough, but half the time one team or another is already resting their starters.

I was at the game... felt like I've seen this game multiple times before. Kyler looked like Josh Dobbs, missing easy throws but then making a few impressive ones and using his legs to make things happen. Funny how a Kyler run was the biggest play of the game, a play not schemed up by KOC.

I dunno if this team is a QB away... since late 2024 this offense has been crap, and KOC is the common denominator. JJ McCarthy already looks much better since moving on. It doesn't matter the weapons or the OL... like, how do you start the game with 4 straight runs with Jones, who we know is banged up and not running that great, when the fresh and ready Jordan Mason didn't get a touch until the third drive?

It's incredible just how good this defense has been. We are screwed the instant they don't have a great game.

Murray is functional IF he scrambles and runs the ball.  Naturally he refuses to do this.

his coaches in Arizona all said he quit running alot because he was tired of getting hit ,  were never gonna be a quality offense with the little guy - sorry

They should see if the giants will give McCarthy back. He’s better than Kyler right now

gonna be awesome when we see the Giants in the playoffs maybe ?

Cousins is the only QB I'd be interested in though. I know how down you are on Murray, but he still looks better than pretty much any other reasonable option. Presuming Herbert isn't on the move too.

He can't make basic HS throws to guys five yards down field.

I guess I'm not sure if you're referring to any specific plays today, but he averaged over 9 yards per completion the past two games.

I'm definitely not trying to defend the QB situation in MN, it's just that I see plenty of regrettable QB play around the league. It's not good here, but at least we're not throwing it to the other team.

Wow. Dan Campbell goes for 4th and 2 at his own 20 while the game is tied with four minutes left.

And then Green Bay bails him out by missing a chip shot field goal.

I'm OK with it ending tied

Yeah that’s not the throws Murray was struggling on. It was the deep throws.

Per completion? Meh. He missed guys over and over. He definitely missed at least three or four short, easy, throws today.

That was insane.

There were about 3 and 1/2  minutes remaining. Even if GB were to score, the Lions likely get the ball back with enough time to do something. Versus GB moving the length of the field and scoring with no / little time remaining.

I understand the idea. It was still insane.

I imagine B Flo sitting in a dark, candle lit room furiously drawing up new stunt packages with increasingly faster paced violin music playing in the background. Topped off with a maniacal laugh when he figures out the move that can’t be topped.

Honestly, this play is a work of art.

Dumping McCarthy could go down as the worst trade since Hershcel Walker. I didn't care for his cocky behavior but he has all the physical tools. They gave up on him too soon. And I'm guessing Harbaugh told him to grow up and ditch the ridiculous face paint.

It just seemed pointless and vindictive to let him go midseason. He may end up amounting to nothing spectacular but he was great insurance for a super shaky quarterback room. His recklessness scares me but he can push the ball down the field in a way that Murray has not shown an ability to do. They knew his age when they drafted him, they couldn’t have been that surprised at his maturity or lack thereof. If the giants, led by JJ, end up going further than the Vikings, it would be yet another complete embarrassment for the entire franchise.

Would anyone take McCarthy over Murray right now? If you have to think for more than a few seconds about that question, you have your answer.

Gibbs’ ankle went a little funky there

I remember Chase Brown doing that last year or the year before. He tried to slide down short of the end zone, sprained his knee and missed a few weeks.

Certainly wouldn’t hate it if he missed this week

Still don't want him. He's not an elite QB and if he was still here AND playing OK/Not-Great the Vikings would almost certainly be stuck with him next year instead of trying to find a long term elite QB.

I didn't watch the game, but I listened to Ben Leber break it down. Apparently just like KOC last year, Harbaugh had McCarthy throwing almost exclusively outside the numbers. If he still can't or won't throw over the middle of the field, he's going to crash back down to earth pretty soon.

Remember when Akil Baddoo had a hot 1st half of the season and fans claimed that was the worst decision the Twins have ever made? That’s what it feels like right now for JJM.

I mean maybe but most teams aren’t completely giving up on a quarterback after ten games and you have to get that position right to win in the NFL. I’m not sure if I’d want him to be the guy right now, but the fact that it’s even a question is an indictment on what we currently have. We have a guy who can’t throw more than ten yards downfield.. If JJ turns out to be a competent NFL starter then the Vikings would have made really really bad quarterback decisions in consecutive years, when the team was good enough to compete for a Super Bowl. That’s how you go almost 60 years with no rings

Even if they kept JJM as insurance, literally every week we would be hearing “JJM can’t possibly do worse” and reporters would be asking KOC that question over and over. Not worth the distraction IMO.
