Arte Moreno bought the Angels in 2003 for $183.5 million. 23 years later it’s sold for $3.9 billion. A 2000% return…

I’m with ya Mike. How did the Twins not get offers of more than $1.5 billion when they were temporarily for sale? The Angels have an old stadium and they’ve been a laughing stock of baseball for the last 15 years.

Even the Angels can be sold for a huge number, but no one wants the Twins?

The Pohlads suck so much they can't even sell a valuable asset for anywhere close to market price.

With both the Padres and Angels selling for $3.9B, I find it hard believe the Twins aren't worth $2B+. Just sell, take the money, and let us all look upon the team with a modicum of hope for the first time in 34 years. End your reign of terror!

The only hope for this franchise , is for the Pohlads to sell. I have a hard time understanding, as money obsessed as they seem to be, why they don't do it.

1st I dont think Pohlad intended to sell.

2nd because as you said the Pohlads are money obsessed and probably believe they should get near what the other recent sales (LAD excluded) pocketed.  $3.9 bil

The new owner for Angels owns the Rams and I assume will plan to either work on a new stadium around Sofi, or some other development.  I also have to assume that he will own a lot of real estate around the stadium.  The deals are not just about the team, but about what else does, or could the area own to help make money outside of the actual baseball.  The Twins have none of that.  They do not own any real estate around Target Field. Any new owner will not move them to another location to get that either.  That is going to be a huge issue in selling going forward.

Teams now own the stuff around the stadiums to make money off all the bars, restaurants, hotels, and apartments, other entertainment stuff.  Owners make tons off of that stuff.

Well the Pohlad's tried to tack on 500M in real estate and/or other business losses into the sale of the Twins. After hearing about that, I wasn't surprised nobody wanted to give them a bonus half a billion dollars in debt relief.

This is the best explanation I’ve heard.

Exactly. Want to see the Twins play their games? Gotta live in Minnesota. That narrows down the ownership interest pool a hell of a lot. Trying to bury a ton of bad debt and force buyers to accept Joe Pohlad as a major component of the organization killed the Ishbia interest.

Forbes said in their new ownership article that Kroenke also plans to build a new $2.5 billion stadium. I believe the Rams stadium in LA was privately funded by Kroenke... I'm insanely jealous of Angels fans. They get a new lease on life!
