Danny Coulombe finally got released today and I would be in favor of a reunion. 

He pitched decent and Boston did him dirty releasing him to get out of paying his bonuses he would have earned.

A lefty is the one thing that could rely on is a major need for the bullpen. Even better is that they won't have to give up any prospects for him.

He would have been traded for if he were pitching decent, he has a 1.5 WHIP with a terrible 6.1 BB/9 and 4.1 K/9. He hasn't pitched well since he was with us last year, since his Rangers stint went rather poor too.

I am curious what happens to the incentives in a contract if the player is picked up by another team.  The salary itself is already covered by the team that released him.  The bonuses hadn't vested at the time of the release, so do they just disappear?  Surely not - a loophole would lead to shenanigans.  So when the bonuses do get triggered, does the team that released him have to pay those too, or does the new team that signs him have to pay?

I would think the bonuses would go away. I know it's not even hardly a minor move but it wouldn't cost any prospects. Give him a couple of weeks and you can simply dump him.

I personally thought they would have given cash considerations to get him.  Does 500k-1 million in additional compensation make it a game changer for the Twins to sign.  Most likely not.

He has been successful for us but we already have lefty relievers though Funderburk scares me when he pitches.

Nobody else wanted him so I don't want him.

I imagine Coulombe will attempt to find a team where he can get a playoff share. He might even take a minor league deal with a contender hoping for an injury that gets him on the postseason roster.
