stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 They can't be very happy to be down in the series 0-2. They've pitched better and hit better than the Twins, but have been brought down by their own bad defense. Probably their best pitcher is going today against a demotion candidate. If the Twins somehow manage to slip by them today, it will be pretty depressing to be a Tribe fan.
Benchwarmerjim Verified Member Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 plus KC has beaten Detroit the last two games. If Cleveland plays passable defense, they are in first place right now.
Joe A. Preusser Verified Member Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Still, they got a look at an awesome bullpen the first two games. Here's hoping they saw something they just can't live without and make us a nice offer.
beckmt Verified Member Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Cleveland looks like defense optional. That does not bood well for their chances.
TKGuy Provisional Member Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 If we had even mediocre starting pitching, we would be in this race.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I think the problem is Cleveland isn't very good. And I guess that includes their defense, but their pitching and hitting will fall out too.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 I agree that the Tribe isn't that good, but they are close to Detroit, despite their inadequacies.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 If I was Francona... I'd be pissed. Not so much last night... But I'd still be pissed about Friday. Two plays that were not ruled as errors that tells everyone they were not ready to play. The Swisher Drop at 1st was ugly and it cost them but even worse was: 1. Cabrera deciding to not move a foot and blowing that little liner from Clete Thomas. That was the only Twins hit for the longest time. If Kazmir would have finished with a one hitter. Cabrera would have belonged in the doghouse. 2. Even worse yet... Stubbs laying up on that Plouffe liner. That was the ball game right there. Runners in scoring position!!! Stubbs has speed and he had a shot at catching it but chose to lay up. That's horrible baseball and it rips off every paying customer that paid to watch the game. Players can and do go through the motions out there... The Paying Customer gets ripped off a lot. If I was Francona... I don't care how important Cabrera is to my lineup. He would have been sitting on Saturday and Aviles would have been my SS. If Cabrera didn't understand that move... he would sit on Sunday as well. Stubbs... He would have been sitting on Saturday and Sunday... I would consider sitting him until the GM trades him. And I would remind him that his major league career is not set and that he should try harder.
