I know that Funderburk is going on family leave, but if they are calling up two pitchers, who else is going down? Morris?

Both Rojas and Prielipp are going to NY. Apparently Rojas will replace Funderburk and Prielipp is on the taxi squad. I expect someone else will be. demoted or placed on IL.

Thanks for that explanation. I read both notices and was confused as to who was coming and who was going. But ... is there any chance of either pitcher actually getting into a game this week?

More than a chance. It would seem that Rojas will be in the bullpen and rested. In the three games, he should get a shot to pitch. It would be nice to have him throw with a nice cushion, but he might come in for a higher leverage assignment.

Prielipp's status is murkier. Is there a pitcher who has an injury concern? Are they planning on sending someone (Morris most likely) down? Is there a DFA in the offing? Banda hasn't pitched since the 15th and wasn't brought into the game yesterday after Morris threw 27 pitches in the eighth. He could be a candidate for the IL or maybe they are at the point of DFAing him. He has been hit hard his last three outings and frankly hasn't been impressive all season. His velocity has been down several mph from his past two seasons with the Dodgers.

Rojas for Abel and I'm guessing Prielipp for Banda dependent on how Tuesday and/or Wednesday go. Lewis comes back and it it is a wild guess who goes down or maybe Matt Wallner hits the IL list. The Twins might be a little queazy about putting Ryan Kreidler at shortstop and sitting Brooks Lee. The pitchers could use a little break on all of the bleeders leaking through the infield.

It is defensible for the Twins to ride the current roster for another three weeks, but we cannot know the dynamics behind the scenes. Perhaps one of Tom Pohlad or Derek Shelton are becoming impatient with the missed plays and mistakes. Poor plate appearances are among the mistakes being evaluated.

I'm a little surprised that Austin Martin does not get full regular status but then again he has made more than a few mental errors on the bases and in the field. The shortstop has to be screaming where the throw needs to go even if Martin should know his play before the ball is hit.

I think it was already stated somewhere that Rojas for Funderburk, who will be on family leave (wife having baby on Tuesday), then Prielipp is for Abel.

Good call/correction. My bad.

So, Prielipp covers Abel for the fifteen days he (Abel) is on the IL and Rojas is only up for 4-5 days while Fundy is away?

I suppose if Rojas impresses, they could send someone else down or DFA somebody.

It would appear that 2026 Prielipp is ahead of 2026 Zebby.

BTW, I think the term should not be “recall” since he’s not been on the active roster yet and he’s not coming back to the majors since he hasn’t been there in the first place.

I think the proper term is that Prielipp is getting a “CALL-UP” to the big leagues.
I hope he does well.   Otherwise, we will be saying Don’t Give Us No Pre-LIP!
