nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 It should be a pipe dream but let's not forget, this is the team that sent an even higher rated pitching prospect, Trevor Bauer, along with relievers Matt Albers and Bryan Shaw for Didi Gregorius and Tony Sipp. Additionally they sent Justin Upton packing for Martin Prado, Randall Delgado and a couple of C level prospects. The moves seem to imply they want a "gritty" team to mirror their "gritty" manager Kirk Gibson. They seem willing to trade flash for hustle. It almost seems like they want to recreate the recent glory year Twins.
RedBull34 Verified Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I'm no fan of trading Perkins, but if they offered up Skaggs, that's a deal I would be willing to take.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I agree on Skaggs, but I doubt they offer him up as he's already in their rotation and they have to replace him with someone else. That said, Perkins aside, this team is a pretty good match. They need pen help now, and trading Duensing or Burton for a guy like Barret would be a win for both teams. Barret shoudl be able to be a back end reliever for the next wave and the timeline is perfect. Owings is another interesting prospect, though the big concern is the PCL piece. The PCL can make good hitters out of a lot of crappy hitters, and the rest of Owings stats (minus an excellent year in A+ ball) have not been impressive. The kid doesn't talk walks and strikes out a ton, which I suspect MLB pitchers would expose. If he has top notch defense, it might not be a bad move.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 oh, should add that Doumit would be a decent fit here as well.
markos Provisional Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I really feel like Arizona is the one team where the Twins could "win" a potential trade. 1) They could really use some bullpen help, particularly with Heath Bell struggling so badly.2) As mentioned already, their GM seems to highly value grittiness, which may cause them to potentially undervalue certain prospects that may not fit their preferred player profile.3) They have an elite prospect (Skaggs or Bradley) that would make a Perkins trade acceptable.4) They have a reasonable number of decent starters and middle-infielders in the high minors that would be great return for Duensing or Burton.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Perkins and KC for Skaggs works for me.
Rick Niedermann Provisional Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 The Twins should definitely listen to Arizona if any of the above prospects are to be included. Surely there is a fit somewhere. I know it is PCL, but I sure like the SS prospect. Even you adjusted his average say 50 points to comepensate for the the PCL he would be hitting .300 in Rochester. If he plays any defense, he would be a huge upgrade over Floriman. He'd be another piece of the puzzle to get an above average offense that we have missed for awhile in Minnesota.

B Richard Provisional Member Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Would Arizona even take a deal of Perk Doumit and Duensing for Skaggs? I wish their system was deeper because Kevin Towers seems like a real bonehead
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Skaggs is going nowhere. Bauer was traded because he clashed with the organization and wouldn't change his pitching style (btw: check out his awesome BB rate this year) Sure if you can get Skaggs go ahead and give em Perkins, hell go ahead and toss them any prospect not named Buxton, Sano, Rosario, Stewart and Meyer as well. It's just not gonna happen. I will gladly be the first to eat crow if it does.
Einstein Verified Member Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 The Diamondbacks are getting desperate for starting pitching. Owings is blocked in AZ. Would the D-backs go for deal centered around Kevin Correia and Chris Owings? The D-backs need to do something soon, their lead has evaporated.

I think most of us would love that, and while Owings is no Bogarts, he's a pretty decent prospect that should be able to garner more than KC...
