It's unclear how Derek Shelton will handle the various coaches who are still under contract with the Minnesota Twins, such as pitching coach Pete Maki and hitting coach Matt Borgschulte. However, the Miami Marlins made one decision for him by poaching a coach from the hitting staff.

Christina De Nicola, who covers the Miami Marlins for MLB.com, is reporting that the team has hired Corbin Day, whose title was "advanced scout, run production" with the Minnesota Twins in 2025.

Prior to his role with the big league club, Day was hired as the High-A Cedar Rapids hitting coach before being promoted to the Double-A Wichita staff.

How do you think this will impact the Minnesota Twins moving forward? Share your thoughts in the comments!

I personally wouldn’t blame any coach jumping ship from the Twins organization right now, even for the Marlins. This club has so much uncertainty to it, going for a stable position makes perfect sense. I think the coaching staff is still going to be hired by Falvey, so more of the same. ✂️💰

This is why I'm not terribly worried about the Twins coaching staff. This group has hired so many coaches that have been poached from the minor leagues or from the MLB staff and gone onto successful stints coaching in the big leagues. That goes all the way back to Tanner Swanson, Rowson, Hefner... Popkins, and now Shoman, and then Bove, and several others. Corbin Day is really good. Did a great job in CR.

Can't wait for these comments!

The only thing that would be more surprising would be if they had a run prevention coach.

I think he was in charge of donut runs to local bakeries while traveling.
