tony&rodney Verified Member Posted October 22, 2025 Posted October 22, 2025 Always fun to follow these guys. While I watch a ton of minor league games or parts of games, it is really impossible to see all of these guys enough to have a full account of their season. That is my preamble to ask about Andrew Morris. I have no idea how his stuff will play going forward but in multiple appearances last season (times I saw him pitch) Morris was the unluckiest pitcher I have seen in ages (managing, coaching, playing, etc.). Too much typing to go into a pile of specifics, but I have a question for you (Seth) or anyone else who has actually watched Andrew Morris pitch. How do you view Morris and his future? I'm very aware of all of his stats so I don't need to hear about any of his statistics. Where does Morris fit into the big picture? I'm just curious about other's opinions.
Dman Verified Member Posted October 22, 2025 Posted October 22, 2025 Couldn't have asked for much more from Hill transitioning from High school to pro ball. Some control issues to work on, but the pitches are there. I really like Klein's big body and K rate. He can get hit hard at times and is a fly ball pitcher and yet he is also dominant at times. A bit more consistency and he looks ready for the bigs to me. Ohl's changeup is a weapon and he is not afraid to throw strikes. Still he needs to mix a little better at the big league level. It looked like he was starting to get there at the end of the season. Bragg, Hoopes and Paredes all had their moments. Felt like Paredes was used in high leverage situations a lot. Fastball might not be that fast, but he has pitched well at every level. AAA should be the final test. It's a good group of arms. Hoping they can take the next big step. Doctor Wu and DocBauer 2
LambchoP Verified Member Posted October 22, 2025 Posted October 22, 2025 Will be interesting to see which of our young pitchers end up in the Twins bullpen in '26. I'd guess Prelipp, Raya, Morris, Ohl and Adams. Festa could be a good relief weapon too. Doctor Wu 1

Morris would be toward the top of my list for pitchers to transition into the bullpen. While I agree there was some "unlucky" in his outings this year, he was also very hittable at times and things went bad quickly when they did. His WHIP was outstanding in 2024, but backed up considerably in 2025 at the higher levels. I view him very similarly to how I did Louie Varland, for an off-hand comparison. tony&rodney and Doctor Wu 2
jmlease1 Verified Member Posted October 22, 2025 Posted October 22, 2025 So happy to see Prielipp have a mostly normal season and not get shutdown for long periods. Was really afraid he might be Canterino part II and despite the electric arm not be able to stay on the mound. Feeling much more positive about him, and even if he does end up in the bullpen, I think he'll be a real weapon out there. Impressed with Dasan Hill who had a fine season for such a young guy. He should be fun to watch next season. Still not sure what I think about Klein. He did quite well in Wichita, but he's also 23: he should be able to hold up against AA hitters. Went back to surrendering too many baserunners in AAA, so I don't know where he really stands. Doctor Wu 1

I must have watched him pitch 12-15 times last summer. There had to be close to 3 dozen missed outs on plays behind him, maybe more. Morris did a poor job of responding to bad defense and to hard hit base hits, occasionally just grooving the next pitch. Perhaps the biggest issue for Morris is that his changeup is not good enough. When you can hit 99 mph and sit 96-97 mph, it really helps to have a change of pace. Something makes me think he could be used in a trade. Arizona is a team that may have interest. Tampa Bay too. In any event I'm hoping Andrew Morris can make it. He does need to lose the mustache. Doctor Wu and Steve Lein 2

It is just really hard to know right now where anyone fits. It has the potential to be a crazy offseason. Will they do anything in free agency? Have they already determined if some of the starters will be moved to the bullpen already next year? Will Pablo, Joe and Bailey still be here? Looking back to 2024, Morris was maybe 6 weeks behind Zebby in terms of promotions and put up nearly equivalent numbers. Look to spring training and Morris was given an extended look, certainly longer than normal for guys who would certainly be starting in AAA. And, he was impressive. But then it was ups and downs with much of that being related to injury. No surgery is always a good thing. He ended the season strong. He doesn't throw as hard as Zebby, Festa, Taj, Abel, but he's got better control and command. He also has multiple plus pitches while still throwing 94-96. I believe he is a starter. I would certainly keep him starting and give him time. He'll certainly be added to the 40-man roster in November. And that gives him lots of wiggle room to keep improving and work on things. Like you, I didn't watch him pitch as much this season as the year before, and when I did, I really tried to remember that he wasn't at 100% That said, the stuff was still good, and he finished the season very good. tony&rodney and Jeff K 2

Prielipp ended the season making all his starts. He got through the program. To me, that's a pretty good sign for him to keep starting, at least for another half season. If he's in AAA dominating and the Twins have five strong starters that they want to keep them all starting or Prielipp still under innings limits, he could come up in the bullpen. Raya spent the last month pitching 1-2 innings out of the bullpen. It's possible they've determined that already, or it was just late in the season and they had new arms they wanted to see up close before the offseason. As noted above, I think Morris is a starter. Doctor Wu Verified Member Posted October 24, 2025 Posted October 24, 2025 Great roundup, Seth, It's very encouraging that we finally have some potentially useful pitchers in the organization. Hopefully, most of them can progress and end up being helpful pitchers for the Twins.
