Hicks' march toward the Mendoza

That OF play by Hicksie had a Delmon-esque look about it.

The knuckleball hit out there? Those are extremely difficult to gauge.

now at .201....our long national nightmare is officially over

I've never been worried about him. He's got the ability. It's just a matter of getting his time in.

Who can we start yammering about now to try to keep 'em kickstarted?

Florimon? He's picked it up a little tonight.

He keeps this up someone may have to start a "Hicks march Towards .300" thread:th_alc:

Seriously though, I'm thrilled to seem him squaring up the ball a lot more.

Honest question: If Hicks batted something like .250/.310/.390/.700 from this point on to the end of the season, would you be satisfied with that or consider it a little disappointing?

To me, that would look like a decent line for a rookie CF, but lately he's showing signs that he can do even better. A 4-hit game (with 3 XBH) as a lefty was really exciting, it's seemed to be his biggest weakness, but I do have to remind myself it was just one game.

I rarely worry about rookie stat lines, especially in a season with no expectations. There's an adjustment period that goes on not just on the field but off the field too.

That was the line I expected for his season. I expected him to start slow and gradually improve, which was his pattern in the minors. But I was surprised he started soooo slow. I expect him to end the season with a line like that, which means he'll need to hit something like .280/.330/.410 the rest of the year to continue to dig himself out of that 2-48 hole. I think that's doable.

Resurrecting this in an attempt to prevent Mr. Hicks from marching backward toward the Mendoza line again.

Considering that nobody did much of anything last night, his performance wasn't so bad but here's hoping that he can use Monday night as a springboard. :whacky028:

(P.S. In case its not apparent, I'm tired of talking about Terry Ryan and Ron Gardenhire).

I think I know how Hicks could find his mojo - he needs to shave his head, like Kirby, and Torii. He looks a little thin on top as it is.

Do it Hicks - bald Twins center fielders are the best!
