Mave's Achievements

  1. Kirilloff has played in 39 games. He has at least 1 hit in 34 of them. Only 3 hitless games in the last month.
  2. Brad Mathiowetz-- Mr. Baseball Minnesota, 18 HR
  3. I get your point, that it would make sense for the Wings to get a player that fills a need (a player with big league experience, nonetheless) while they are chasing first place, but then again, we have to think of the purpose of the minor leagues, or even AAA for that matter-- it's a place for players to develop, and a holding tank for players who may be needed to plug a hole in a pinch (the Doug Bernier-ish types). Winning a AAA championship seems like a nice bonus if they are fulfilling the purpose of developing talent, but shouldn't be an organization's main focus at the expense of development... Hicks needs some success after saying his confidence was shot-- leading to his new approach. Why not use AA to serve the purpose of development-- let him mash down there using the new approach, then promote him accordingly?

  5. Above, referring to Colabello-- who made his debut last year at the same age Jamey Carroll did with the Expos. He is definitely a fun story to follow-- hoping that he, like Jamey, can keep living the big league dream another ten years.
  6. For what it's worth: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/11/dioner-navarro-moving-toward-deal.html It just cites Gammons on Twitter saying that Navarro is "moving toresolution," with a team.
  7. Seconded. One more for you: Pablo. Sandoval. World Series Champion.
  8. Not a player, but Brian Cashman broke his leg while skydiving. Jason Stark tracks these every year during spring training. A number of them he mentions were already listed above. Dont know if you have to be an insider to read them, but they are worth a read.
  9. Thank you, irrevocable waivers is a good point to be brought up. I guess I didn't go far enough with my point. If the Twins don't like what they are being offered from the claiming team in that 48 hour window, then pull him back and just don't worry about it. Keep him around. In the short term, you still have a fan-favorite on your team (hopefully keeping more of the casual fans in the stands than if you just dump him for nothing), who is hitting the ball well now. It is a short-sighted move, but I really don't think it is a bad one. Try to resign him to a reasonable deal over the next year or two and reassess when the cavalry arrives from FTM and NB.
  10. Again... work out a better deal now that he is hitting significantly better! If they don't like what is being offered withing the 48-hour negotiating period with the claiming team, then pull him back off waivers!!!!!! (sorry for yelling...) There really is no harm in putting a player on Major League waivers. As it has been mentioned, this happens all of the time, with pretty much all players. My question is-- I thought this waiver process, and who was put on waivers was supposed to be a secret process, with no information allowed to be disclosed unless if something is finalized. Is that still technically (but not practically with the current state of 24-hour media/insiders) the rule? Can anyone help me out here?
  11. Will he be claimed? As we have established, most likely. But that doesn't necessarily mean he is a goner. Given he is pretty darn hot right now, that adds negotiating power and hopefully a better return for Morneau. If TR and the brass aren't happy with what they are offering, then pull him back off waivers!
  12. A comment was made a couple of days ago on one of the Minor League posts about how there really is value in an organization for a guy like Jamey. Going along with that line of thinking mentioned there-- here is what I think the Twins will miss in Jamey Carroll: Instead of calling him a "roadblock," why not try "placeholder" on for size? Jamey will be missed in the organization for many of the reasons already listed above. A good veteran presence-- Dozier just said on Twitter that Carroll was the, "Best mentor and teammate [he] has ever had in the game," he was a wonderful role model for an organization in transition. He also played the role of the 23rd, 24th, 25th man (as he will now function in KC) incredibly well because of what we mentioned above--which is a huge for a team looking toward the future. Jamey's presence meant that Escobar, and everyone else who isn't ready to advance, can get every day ABs in Rochester. That will now likely fall to the Triune Platoon of Bernier, Clete and Mastro. So congratulations on the new start in KC, and best of luck to a true professional!!
  13. And speaking of sending guys to get some innings in, what about someone like Oliveros? Pedro Hernandez? More playing time for Escobar?
  14. I don't think Parm would be eligible based on how much time he has spent in the ML-- but I agree with the sentiment. It might be fun to see what kind of numbers he could put up down there based on his last couple of years crushing AA and AAA pitching!
  15. According to Dustin Morse via twitter, Jamey Carroll has been traded to the Royals for our old friend, PTBNL or $$$. Best of luck to him-- I always loved his effort and hustle--even going all out on a routine ground ball to the SS. Fun player to root for.
