tlkriens Verified Member Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 Fans, media and players were shocked at what the Minnesota Twins did Thursday at the MLB trade deadline. 11 players shipped out before the deadline, including nine on July 31 alone. I haven’t been this excited about the Twins future in years. I’m probably in the bottom 1% of fans based on social media reaction. Everyone hated it. I loved it. How could you dismantle the team and lose nearly half of the 25 man roster in the span of a week? https://kornradio.com/sports/mediocre-team-trades-mediocre-players-fans-get-mad/
strumdatjag Verified Member Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 This team didn’t need to be blown up. I wanted to sell Duran OR Jax, but the Twins need one of those two PLUS LOUIS VARLAND to build around. The rest of the moves are just fine with me. I like the selling, but it went too far. Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 Their relievers weren't mediocre, but they got mediocre returns for them compared to other deals that were and have been made. nicksaviking, farmerguychris and Strombomb 2 1

Right, they probably traded three of the four most valuable relief arms at the deadline. Traded ten MLB players total. And the most depressing statement I saw was that with all of those MLB caliber players moved, the Twins somehow didn't get a single consensus top 100 prospect. Certainly some talented guys in the bullpen, but they still had a 4.42 ERA, 23rd best in MLB.

Team ERA? Who would judge these guys individually based on that? But if ERA is your qualifier, than Durán, Stewart, Varland and Coulombe should have gotten HOF caliber talent in return. jaimedude Verified Member Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 4 strikeouts already. Can they do a group picture for Falvey, with the traded guys photo shopped in.
Nshore Verified Member Posted August 1, 2025 Posted August 1, 2025 Falvey's in the wrong job. He's got the smarmy patter of a marketing dweeb. He should get out of operations.
Turtle Lake Verified Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Mickey Gaspar? I don’t see a hitter there.
