Liriano with a complete game 4 hitter for Pittsburgh today. He's now 8-3 with a an ERA just over 3.

I know I'm in the minority but letting an arm like that leave the organization for AAAA filler was ... not smart.

His combined war for 2011 and 2012 was 0.6. When he played for the Twins, especially toward the end, he was ... not good.

I knew it was gonna happen but I was tired of him.

I do that at the Casino... I'll play the slots and lose and lose... I know its gonna pop... I walk away down 30 bucks and boom... The lights start flashing behind me.

I was also in that minority, but I did see the logic of dumping him. At this point, I wish him the best.

I like how Coomer dogs out Encarnacion for not sprinting to avoid a double play saying that's why they are where they are in the standings. Okay, what about his 23 HR, 66 RBI and .889 OPS?

I laughed out loud. That was ridiculous even for a Twins broadcast.

I understand he hadn't pitched well in a while. I understand extending him would have been a gamble. I was still arguing long and loud for just such an (cheap) extension last summer. Too little pitching talent in this organization to let someone who has the ability to perform at a high level, because of talent not luck, like Liriano. The return they got for him amounts to what you can pick up dirt cheap every winter. It amounts to basically nothing.

Pretty nice try by Floor-E-Moan.

How was he safe?
Dozier couldn't hold the bag.

Letting your best players dog-it probably doesn't do much to help you win.

I wonder what Mauer could do if he didn't think you have to wait until you have 2 strikes on you to put a ball in play.

He's blown through the .230 mark... .350 here we come.

If he gets up to .350... We will just have to suffer thru a painful regression... Cut him now.

I agree.

In fairness though, I don't know if that's typical. I also don't know if he slipped getting out of the box or what happened.

But barring other information, yeah...playing the game hard isn't too much to ask and actually does have an effect on results.

Maybe not, but it seemed really bitter. I'm not sure if you saw it, but the whole time I'm sitting there thinking that criticizing another team for being three games under .500 for one play's lack of hustle while you cover our 10-game under team with a ducky and bunny style is pretty laughable.

Just call Encarnacion out for hustle, don't tie it to the team's record, it's just stupid.

I'm not saying players shouldn't play hard, but I've watched Encarnacion play and he doesn't do that normally. The way Coomer said it was like he knew it was a normal thing. Like you said, he could have come out of the box weird. He could have tweaked something, whatever.

Edit, right there. He's got a hamstring issue. And Coomer is taking back his comment

How hot in Tucson?

Our blessed summer monsoon started to ease it's way into our life about a week ago. It is raining as I type. It was hot earlier today, low 100's, got a round of golf in with my boys early this morning. Monsoon rains hit and it's around 70 right now. It'll probably stop and we'll have a great evening, we hope to take in a Tucson Padres game yet tonight.

We set a record in June...every single &%*#(#ing day in June went into triple digits. Uffda.

He doesn't normally do that, which was my point. And the way he contributes with the bat certainly doesn't hinder their winning. And now Coomer says he's got a sore hammy.

I know... Every time I turned on the Weather Channel to find out the forecast for someplace important... Like Say... Grand Forks... I had to wait for them to quit talking about the Arizona Heat.

They had that crazy guy frying eggs on sidewalks and timing the melting of ice cream and tootsie pops.

it's another example of how our announcers aren't prepared for their games. And they're always eager to push 'the Twins way'

I sure wish Morneau wouldn't have struck out... A little contact and it 1-1 right now.

Buerhle just blew it by him though... All Morneau could do... Is stand there and feel the breeze as it went by.

When will we see the Twins plow a catcher?

When will see a Twins player get pissed and get face to face with an ump?

When? When? When?
