Or he's just being honest: he doesn't feel comfortable and he's worried it's going to work out poorly.  I think it's fair to allow him to be honest.

And I think it would have been great if he'd added, that despite all that, he'll do what it takes to win. Again though, maybe I'm expecting the wrong thing here.

Pretty refreshing, actually. People work so hard to attribute motives where none exist. Happens all the time.

I just love this thread for taking someone's pre-fabricated opinion, which they stated as a fact, and then having it put on blast by still-frames that show how comically ridiculous that opinion was.

What happened to the TD that had insight and discussion rather than toxic preaching that people have to counter with literal frame-by-frames?

Where have you been?

With all due respect Mike, I think you're letting the clickbait headline decide your takeaway more than what Royce actually said.  He said he was worried that he wasn't helping.  That he didn't feel comfortable.

Dude was just being vulnerable.  Should he have maybe thrown in some kind of "I'm a gamer" quote....sure.  But he's a kid.  One who is clearly scared he's going to hurt his team.  That counts for a lot in my book.

Sitting it out with the board controlled by that exact mentality.  I'm trying to find a reason to give it another go, but it's clear what brand of conversation controls the narratives here.

I do miss when we saw more of Parker and Jeremy.

I stayed away for two weeks, then got sucked back in......I should try again

Maybe he did say more. I mean, this is an out of context quote pulled from the STrib and then, because paywall, we all read the summary and project.

While I like to believe STrib would have included the full context if he did say more, you just can't trust anything twice removed from the source. Baseball quotes should be treated like we treat the games. It's not "what did you say yesterday." Forget and move on.

Hear hear. Some of the stuff that gets stated as fact amazes me. The latest is several are posting that Lewis is playing hurt. I have not read from one credible source this is the case. Rather somebody on TD posts it as fact and now many are repeating.

Have you seen Lewis run?

Or, rather, not run?

Yep. He’s been told to protect himself. Neither of us know his physical condition so neither of us should present his physical status as fact.

Neither of us know his physical condition, but you know he's been "told to protect himself?"

Can you share your source for this? I might have missed it.

It was reported by Dan Hayes I believe.

Can't seem to find anything even close. Heres' the latest from Hayes:

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5751375/2024/09/06/twins-royce-lewis-optimistic/

BTW...what would he be protecting himself from? Aggravating an existing injury?

Also BTW, I'm trying to give Lewis the benefit of the doubt here. I saw him run at several games, and it wasn't pretty. And it's not like he's busting it down the line on ground balls.

An oft injured player trying not to get injured again. Or maybe an existing injury. Neither of us knows which brings this fun conversation full circle. Enjoy the game tonight.
