One thing that doesn't get mentioned enough is the inconsistency with how they approached the "total system failure" of 2016. They hired new baseball execs and left their business/marketing operations system entirely intact. It would be akin to recognizing a total computer failure and opting to address it by doing a hardware overhaul to the RAM, fan, and circuit wires, but without touching the hard disks.

Who in the heck would do that instead of spending a nominal amount more to buy a new computer?? Oh yeah, people like the Pohlads...the aggressively-stingy...dare I say stupidly-stingy?

Sure enough, even that big-picture decision to cut corners has contributed to the disastrous TV situation this year.

It appears, to me at least, as if ownership views St Peter as doing his job well. I mean, they've had him doing it for a long time.

Which strengthens my belief they're making money regularly.

Sorry, but after so many posts ripping ownership.  Many of them baseless. I finally snapped and picked yours to reply to.

The reality is the next time the Twins win a World Series it will be by sheer luck. Just like 1987 and 1991. The Pohlads didn’t capitalize when the team was on a MLB record setting HR pace in 2019. The entire decade of the 2000s. Doesn’t matter if the moon aligns with Saturn and Jupiter. That’s just how they roll as owners.

I agree 100% at this point in time the next time they win something it will be by luck, especially with the wild card rounds and all of that stuff.  But 1991, I don't really know if that should be considered lucky.  I mean they won the American League West by like 10 games or something crazy, plus the West had 7 teams in it back then and I think if not all almost all of them had a winning record that season.  In the World Series, they took out Atlanta, with Smoltz, Maddux, and Glavine.  That Atlanta team beat the Pirates who had Bonds, Bonilla, Van Slyke, Drabek.  I mean That 1991 team were studs.  The front office and ownership that year actually did some work by bringing in Chilli Davis, Jack Morris and trusting a rookie to play the Keystone in Knoblauch.  I mean back before the wild cards it was hard to be lucky.  But 1987 did seem a little bit lucky, but I remember Blyleven talking the previous season about how even that team could be special, so I don't really think they snuck up on anyone with Hrbek, Puckett, Viola, Gaetti, Blyleven, Brunanski, etc....  but 87 did seem unlikely as fans, but 91 i felt during that run that the Twins had a legit shot.  JMO.  But they have some work to do now.  Could you imagine if there were still only 2 divisions?  How many times would they have made the playoffs these last 10 years?  They definitely have their work cut out for them. Fingers crossed 🤞 a little luck will be needed.

As you know.... If you've read my posts, my point is that this is the excuse every year. That they aren't one player away. That no good players were traded. That the price was too high. It can't be true every year*. Unless every other team in baseball is wrong.

*Excepting one year.

I think this is sad but true. Also a case where their loyalty history is hurting them. Time to update management and reconnect with the fans. He is massively out of touch.

Could have traded Julien for Polanco who is batting .320 in his last 7 games with 4 home runs.

Not sure why you quoted me. Individual moves have nothing to do with an out of touch organization and its leadership.
