Kirk getting hurt really set us back, no doubt. I was still looking forward to watching a playoff game with no expectations this year. We sat through the Zimmer decade and I’m gonna give this regime a couple more seasons to show something.
edit—ok maybe not that long

I probably have less concern with the coaching staff than the GM. The drafts before KAM got here were not great, the team got top heavy and old, KAM's drafts have been lacking and now they are in a tough spot. Zimmer had some good teams and talent, but since about the time they started paying Kirk, the margin for error shrunk and the poor to middling drafting and payroll structure gutted the team.

We were due for our annual blow out loss at home. Didn’t even bother watching once Mullens was put into the game.

We’ve got our answer for next year. The Vikings need 2 QBs at a minimum this offseason. I don’t want to see Mullens, Dobbs, or Hall play meaningful games for the team in 2024. Draft a rookie QB in the 1st or 2nd round, then either bring Kirk back at a discounted 2 year deal or a bridge QB like Jacoby Brissett for 1 year.

I think we need to draft defense, whaddya say

I’ll take a stud edge rusher like Jared Verse at 10th overall if they can’t trade up into the top 4-5 picks for a QB. Then take a QB in the 2nd round.

They also need OL because Risner is not a long term answer at LG. I’d argue Bradbury should be replaced at C too.

All of this is true. The OL got worse with Risner

Half of the Vikings draft picks over the last two years were on the defensive side of the ball.

Only one of them starts, and he's awful. I don't think Adolfo-Mensah would be able to spot a good defensive player if Lawrence Taylor punched him in the nose.

Yes and that goes back to zimmer too, who was always good for drafting bad players in the secondary.

But still, we need lots of help on defense.

The more I think about what happened last night, the more I get the feeling that the team knew they had no shot going in considering the quarterback and injuries. That was the worst game of the year. KOC gave the people what they wanted, knowing it would be a disaster.

I don’t think they switch QBs at halftime if they weren’t desperately trying to win.

Which was both impossible and pointless.

And any coach who ‘gave the people what they want’ out of spite needs to be fired on the spot. In either case, most fans still wanted the win. Everyone else watching at my house last night did. The fans like me and a few others here who are begging for the long term vision over the immediate wins are still the minority.

Ya, no way he gave the fans what they want....
