Mlbtraderumors just posted an article on candidates to trade for Verdugo from Boston.  In looking at potential matches, Verdugo is similar to Kepler in that he is a good fielding RF with average offense and a 9 million estimated salary the season before becoming a free agent.  Sounds very similar to a Kepler situation if we decide to go the route of trading him this offseason.  I’m not advocating one way or another.  Just saying below is an article that lays out potential trade partners for Verdugo who you could easily substitute Kepler and see where to start in a trade.  who would you trade him to and what would the return look like?

Damn. I thought the same thing when I saw that. It got to me thinking about the Marlins or Mariners. I'm not sure I am ready to part with Max, but the idea of improving the team is always there. I'm guessing if Kepler is traded it is straight up for a reliever (unlikely) or as one of several players in a larger deal. The Dodgers and Padres? Hmmm.

Verdugo has shown more consistency than Kepler and is three years younger. Kepler had a great second half but I think teams will be calling Boston before they call the Twins this offseason.

Both are on a 1 year contract for about the same money.  They are pretty equal.  Kepler can still play CF if needed.

Kepler's numbers are superior to Verugo's without exception.

I guess 2020, 2021, 2022 and April, May and June of 2023 aren't exceptions?

Three months a super-star makes I suppose.

Still better than Verugo without exception.

That's a convincing argument for sure.

Reminds me back in the day when I was jealous that Roberto Alomar got all the accolades instead of Chuck Knoblauch.
