anyone think he'll play anymore for the Twins this year?

Only if there is a way to sneak him onto the playoff roster.

I have just moved on from Buxton as an integral part of this team going forward. They had a whole offseason to get him right and still he could only DH. I no longer have any hope that he can be consistently productive both offensively and defensively, given his inability to stay healthy. When he did play I cringed every time he had to run fast or slide. His body is made out of glass and it appears he will never be able to have a season without a significant injury.

I think the above is accurate. Twins have probably already moved on from him this season. Anything he might contribute would be a bonus assuming he could at least swing a bat.

Unfortunately, Byron Buxton is a tremendous athlete whose body simply cannot withstand the stress that his abilities impose upon it. It is a shame but it is. Forget Buxton as a career professional baseball player. Maybe Pickle Ball but there are injuries in that game too.  Continually attempting to insert him into the lineup is a disservice to the team and to the player who is removed from the lineup. Of course the brilliant FO will probably try to salvage something from a trade to some other team with an equally brilliant FO as classic CYA when the handwriting has always been on the wall.

It’s time the mlb starts viewing injury prone players and the same way the nfl views running backs. NEVER GIVE THEM A LONG TERM CONTRACT. Buxton is on the wrong side of 30 and his injury recovery capabilities are only going to get worse. He needs to go on an ayahuasca retreat with Aaron rodgers or climb a mountain cliff and eat the eggs of a supernatural eagle to rectify his career. News flash that ain’t going to happen, he is done, trade him some how if you still can.

Well, technically he’s on the right side of 30. The Twins gave him an incentive-laden contract, which would seem to account for the injury history. It seems that the knee and hip miseries are more chronic. Perhaps if they were convinced those injuries would continue to dog him, they wouldn’t have extended him.
