Thanks to MLBTR for figuring it all out.

The last two losses might be a blessing in disguise. The Twins are now 16th, with a tie breaker over Boston and Arizona, and juuust ahead of San Fran. The only realistically competitive teams ahead of them are Cinci, Miami, and Cleveland.

It’s possible Cinci and Cleveland don’t claim anyone because they’re both cheap. I suspect Miami will make a claim or two. The only wildcard is the Padres…they don’t have much of a playoff shot but Preller is a wild man.

The Reds will claim at least one of the pitchers. I just want to get Moore. Put him in closer role and slide Duran into the Andrew Miller role as the rally stopper.

Cinci might grab Giolito.

Makes sense for Marlins to take one of both of the good relievers, certainly Moore.

We could use almost any of the relievers, quite honestly.  Do we want Sands on our playoff roster? Floro?

We find out this afternoon, fingers crossed.

I was very surprised to see them above the Dbacks and Red Sox. Something I’d seen the other day suggested they didn’t hold those tie breakers. That being said, Miami is almost guaranteed to claim a reliever which means Moore is gone. I’d be shocked if Lopez fell to us. I could see getting one of the trio of OFs but fixing the pen is much more dire of a situation.

I look forward to a time that my team is regularly so far up in the standings that manufactured events like what the Angels just pulled are not relevant.

Yeah I agree.

However... even if you look down from that lofty perch.

You are going to shout "Hey that matters" down to the little people below.

The Zoltar Machine is located on the boardwalk at 1 Playland Parkway in Rye, New York. Now keep in mind that it was back in 1988 when Josh Baskin had his wish granted but who knows... it might still be there.
