Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 I think Dobbs continues to start until he has another clunker. And then what do you do if he does?

Two weeks in a row, Dobbs has struggled against that as the pocket collapses and he can't run. Don't know what the answer is (except be up by more points). But we aren't going to find a better QB than Dobbs at this point. And, realistically, so many things went wrong for us last night and we still should have won the game. We're still (likely) a playoff team. Vanimal46 and Hosken Bombo Disco 2
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 I was really hoping to see the eagles get blown out but they’re very much in the game halfway through the 4th

Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 Cousins is vastly better than Dobbs. I’m not stupid. That said (you know where this is going), it’s time for a change. I have been ready for change for a while now. The bummer is that Kirk was really finding a new, almost elite level under KOC. But it looks like Dobbs is capable of outperforming his past performance, too. Maybe KOC is just a QB whisperer. Dobbs doesn’t have that riverboat gambler mentality that Favre and Keenum did, but Dobbs does have vision and especially mobility. I have been starving for that for years. A mobile, running quarterback? In the 2020s? What a concept! Someone go tell Zimmer, Spielman and Norv Turner. What makes this all moot is that some other team is going to pay Kirk anyway. I think that’s kind of the media consensus in this town from what I’ve been picking up. The Vikings can use that Kirk money on other guys and will be fine rolling with Dobbs plus a second QB to go with him. That’s kind of where this is headed. Meanwhile, I am having a blast watching Vikings games again.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 I don't agree Dobbs is good. He's a backup

gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 We'll see how the season plays out. My guess is the Vikings will draft a QB they think is the future but might not be ready to start from the get-go. (this article suggests that potentially six QBs could go in the first round). If Cousins would resign on a one year deal so the drafted QB would learn from him, the Vikings would probably do that in a heartbeat. But if Cousins wants multiple years (and he does) and another team would give that to him (I'm sure someone will), it becomes a trickier problem. In that case, I could see them trying to find a bridge QB, whether that's Dobbs or someone else, and then using some of the rest of the savings on other parts of the roster. But if this team continues to play well, make the playoffs, etc, then Dobbs would be off the table as well because someone is going to give him multiple years. In that case, the bridge QB might be a step down from Dobbs or they just go with the rookie from day one. On the other hand, if they don't like any QBs in this draft (or they are taken before they can pick one), then multiple years to Kirk or Dobbs because likely.

I think Cousins gets a multi year deal one way or another. Maybe he doesn't get the guaranteed money he's accustomed to, but I think he gets two years minimum, probably three. And likely way more guaranteed money than Dobbs, unless Dobbs somehow takes this team to the NFC championship game or deeper. And with the two QBs so vastly different, I wonder if you need to tailor the offense differently. If they do plan on drafting a QB for the future who would sit for a year or half a year, do they sign a vet that best fits the future QBs offensive skills? I'm really not sure, they seemed to adjust on the fly OK this year, though it's doubtful they could adjust on the fly as well with a rookie QB.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 The Lions are looking terrible against the packers. GB defense is pressuring Goff and making him look really bad. You had to figure the lions would 💩 the bed on national TV with all the hype they’ve been getting.

nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 I'm not sure if anyone has said it out loud, but are we sure Jefferson isn't still out because he wants a new contract? I know I'm not supposed to broach that subject, but they have a bye next week so there's next to no chance he's activated to play against the lowly Bears. I have to think at some point in the two weeks between games, there will start to be rumblings about this. Mike Sixel and Parfigliano 2
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 The jets on standalone national tv again. Just make it stop. How bad is Trevor Siemian that he can’t get on the field over Wilson and Boyle?

I probably would have gone with Boyle too if only because he's had less opportunity to be bad. Crazy how bad Zach Wilson is though. Rick Mirer and Ryan Leaf are perhaps two #2 overall picked QB busts of all time, and Zach Wilson's QBR is significantly worse than both of them.

Jets get a pick 6 for a touchdown, miss the extra point, get another interception with TWO SECONDS left in the half. And end up throwing a 99 yard pick 6 on the Hail Mary as the half ends hahahaha god I feel terrible for jets fans Danchat 1
