Squirrel Community Moderator Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 The Twins stayed with it on Monday, then won last night … let’s keep it rolling! Go Twins!
UK Twin Verified Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Even with an off day tomorrow, it's important that Sonny goes 6-7 innings here. Duran will be available and hopefully Lopez will as well. But Jax and Stewart both threw Monday and Tuesday so we haven't got a lot of options if Gray doesn't get through 6. But at least the Dodgers have the same problem so if we can do to May what we did to Kershaw that would be ideal.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 I wonder if Rocco is thinking about giving either Correa or Buxton a day off with the off day coming tomorrow. I would hope that both aren't out of the lineup at the same time despite their less-than-stellar results recently. A six-inning start from Gray would be very beneficial. The bullpen lineup for today would include De Leon, Sands, Lopez and Duran with a day off tomorrow. Maybe they could get a couple outs from Moran.

Didn’t Bux just have one? And I’d rather not put anyone else in at SS right now. Correa had a nice little stretch with the bat over the weekend, I’d keep him in there. But it certainly has been a topic that was hammered away at in last night’s thread, despite the Twins leading and winning the game.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted May 17, 2023 Author Posted May 17, 2023 The lineup last time we beat the Dodgers in Dodger Stadium … just thought it interesting
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Get the series win against Los Dodgers. Tough pitching matchup all around today.
Montdak Verified Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 I’d say Twins made their bones in this series. What with the shoulda been great comeback first game and nemesis ump (S)Cuzzi taking the bat out of Kirilloff hands in SF situation that ended up would have won the game. Then last night. Win today would be gravy and we have Sonny.. Good article here by Braun but here’s two nitpicks for him. Did Solano throw out Muncy at home because I remember the throw coming from second. And onerous is an adjective. Onus is a noun and I think the word you were looking for.

Castro moved to second in the later innings when Larnach pinch hit for Solano and Willi made two underrated good plays in the field (IMHO).

August J Gloop Verified Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Time to dethrone BABIP King Dustin May. He's good, but he's been getting hecks lucky with the FB/HR rate and the xFIP/ERA. He's not getting many strikeouts, so put the ball in play with authority and see if he's still there by the 4th. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 For no particular reason, I feel a strong game for Correa and Buxton.

Last I knew of...Ford was actually still playing ball for an independent minor league team, and he's gotta be close to 50 now. Something called the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. He's a player coach for the Long Island Ducks, and Wally Backman apparently is the manager. Ford had one decent year for the Twins.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 I probably shouldn't write anything before this series is over, but I don't think the Dodgers are all that. They have a top-heavy lineup--Betts, Freeman, Muncy and Smith are fine players--and their top three starters (even without Buehler) are very good. I don't think their BP is fantastic and the bottom of their order is not very threatening. To me, Atlanta is superior and the Phillies could also be better, although they haven't started very well. San Diego also should be better, but they've really struggled so far.

mrtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Castro had to me his best game as a Twin,,, Buck and Farmer get most the Ink, Castro had the 2 good plays at 2nd base had 2 stolen bases and 2 hits, And Castro has alot more Positional flexability than Solano,

RickOShea Verified Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Twins showed a lot of character last night. After a tough loss on Monday nite, they played decent baseball, and beat a hot pitcher and future Haller, Kershaw.
Robert Floren Verified Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 I haven't liked the Dodgers since the '65 world series. Lets take the 3-game series today.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 By the way, for the second day in a row, it's "hit a home run, get tomorrow off" as Farmer gets his first day off since coming back from injury. Anyone who homers today will get Thursday off, guaranteed!
