David HK Verified Member Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 Sad to lose Coulombe, but kind of glad we didn't win the Fulmer sweepstakes. Give up 5 in the 9th to the White Sox scrubs, allowing them to tie the game... Yikes.

It just shows you how bullpen arms can be so hard to rely upon. One year good and steady, and the next year they can implode. That's one reason I've never been keen to sign relievers to long-term contracts. Sure, there are a few consistently good to great arms out there, but many of these relief pitchers are great one year and then garbage a year later.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 I don’t take much stock in a single ST outing; not sure why anyone does. That said, I was so-so on getting him back. I’m still a little concerned about our BP but then, have to wait and see how the season unfolds.

If the stat line is correct, his ERA is 5.19 after giving up 5 runs in 2/3 of an inning. Apparently, his other ST innings were pretty good - right - am I missing something? I do know that whatever his stat line might be, I’d be more comfortable with Fulmer in the Pen this year v. Sands.
