Ober has earned the spot. And who cares about how Maeda feels about getting demoted to the bullpen. If he had a great year he would be gone via free agency any way. Danchat 1

h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Mahle competing with Maeda for most discouraging. But it is what I expected. Not drinking the Kool-aid. Hopefully their season proves me wrong.
ddubbl1 Verified Member Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Don't worry about Buck...he'll be fine by May..they're just being extra cautious. DH is better than on the bench. Maeda will hopefully warm up to an SP postition...if not..no worries..he'll be a solid reliever. The team is better off than last year. The Saints should be better as well now that they're getting half of their team back from last year's injured Twins squad. Let's Go Twins!!! wabene 1
Trov Verified Member Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 I think if you are expecting Maeda to put up Cy Young award numbers then you need to be worried, but if you are looking for a 5th starter who should compete in many games I am not worried. In 2020 he was going into the year our number 2 pitcher. He ended up being our best. This year he is going into season as our number 5. If he ends up being our best, that means either he did amazing and we won the division, or we are last place. I doubt he will be what he was in 2020. If he struggles out the gate we can bring Ober back up and move Maeda to pen, or we can cut him if needed. wabene 1
