Another rule change re: position players pitching

I personally have no issue with a position player pitching.  If you want to reduce it, why not put in a mercy rule?  I get the reason for teams wanting to use them, to save the much more used pen guys from pitching in blow out games and using them up for the next game.  How about this, if you are concerned of that, just leave the starter out there for 100 pitches regardless of how he is doing?  Or have a guy that can go 3 plus innings out of pen throwing 60 plus pitches if needed once in awhile. 

The rule will need to be tweeked if there is more two way guys.  I know there have been more two way guys trying to do it.

All these rule changes to speed up the game. Just cut the commercials in half and that would cut out 30 minutes per game.

I've been saying for years: let the clubhouse or stadium staff pitch in extras! Batboy vs. TC Squad member (maybe we pitch using the t-shirt cannon?)

That's not realistic. And, people expect delays for ads. The pace of play during play is a big issue.

The fact that MLB managers have to resort to position pitchers pitching despite having 13 man staffs really show how inept they actually are.

MLB teams somehow managed to avoid this for 100 years using 9-10 man staffs but not it's more common place than ever. And with the constant roster shuffling no less.

 

Also the extra innings runner is a joke and I have refused to watch extra innings for the past three seasons because of it.  Then again, most everything Manfred does is a joke so it shouldn't be a surprise.

Before making accusations of ineptitude, have you considered how an actual manager who gets paid a salary for his services might respond to the question?

I wouldn't have said inept but more of babying the staff. 13, even at times they had 14 pitchers on the staff and still teams used position players. 

I do not dislike that teams would on occasion use one to pitch in a blowout. But when guys like Chris Gimenez and La Tortuga get 7-8 appearances in one season that's ridiculous. RP need to be able to pitch more than one inning in a game. They also need to be able to go back to back days if it's only one inning. 

Maybe not related but I miss the days of the LOOGY. They could go 3, 4, 5 days in a row. Not innings eaters, but the three batter rule is also dumb Manfraud ball.

Another rule that needs to change is, if your SP (othani) is hitting, and you remove them from the game, it needs to be pitchers hitting in that spot afterwards.
