Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Yeah, you nibble when in a 1-2 count to donkey, not another sure strike and not down the middle. Donkey happens though.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I presume Diamond is done. Good outing for him. The wind seems to be the great equalizer in this series. Pretty tough to get anything other than a line drive out of the park.Shows what I know. But I guess Dunn is strong enough to hit it out in a gale.
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I don't care how bad Adam Dunn *has* been, you do NOT throw a right-hander at him if you can avoid it. Either Diamond or a one-and-done Duensing there. Roenicke is meat for Dunn. And lo and behold. But I am glad for Hicks, there. And Mauer taking the walk--in that case--forcing either a LH situation for Willingham or another pitching change was good.
big dog Verified Member Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Yeah, if you are unlucky enough to throw it where Dunn swings, it can go a long, long way. It's often straight up, but not that one.Roenicke has a good recovery, though. I've been pleasantly surprised by him so far.
snepp Verified Member Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 So, Dickbert, was it a mistake or wasn't it?
Milkman Provisional Member Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Anyone have access to WSI? Knowing their propensity to be chicken littles, its gotta be pure gold over there right now.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 So, who pitches the eighth? Burton (second day in a row), Roenicke, Duensing, Fien, Pressly, Bueller?
big dog Verified Member Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I don't know, but whoever it is better strike de Aza out or he'll probably score on a four-base error.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Oh great... Escobar.. Carroll and Mauer hitting in the ninth.
big dog Verified Member Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 De Aza strikeout. Thanks, Burton. Let's keep it going.
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Also, cheers to Scott Diamond for getting back in the groove. Only his own error was really an issue today for him. That is a good sign, especially if Worley continues to rebound and Correia pitches effectively (as opposed to quite good as he has so far).
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Don't look now, folks, but we're on the verge of a 4-game winning streak.

That would add up to two more solid starters than last year, and Pelfry is showing flashes of competence. That would make 4 solid starters with Deduno and Hendriks possibly adding to the list.

If we have four solid starters, a decent bullpen, and a lineup that can score runs, does that make us...contenders?
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Don't look now, folks, but we're on the verge of a 4-game winning streak. Jeez... Not yet... Don't type that yet... Now... I gotta figure out something to counter act that... And I'm not sure what.
glunn Community Moderator Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 If we have four solid starters, a decent bullpen, and a lineup that can score runs, does that make us...contenders? Jinx warning.
glunn Community Moderator Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Jeez... Not yet... Don't type that yet... Now... I gotta figure out something to counter act that... And I'm not sure what. I am running to get my 1987 World Series T shirt to fight the bad juju that people are posting.
big dog Verified Member Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 A lot of people are trying to jinx us, and throwing out meat for the trolls.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I am running to get my 1987 World Series T shirt to fight the bad juju that people are posting. yeah... Don't just stand there.. Do something... My Baseball Voodoo probably won't work cuz Knudson is a man of the cloth.
glunn Community Moderator Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 A lot of people are trying to jinx us, and throwing out meat for the trolls. OK, I have the anti-jinx shirt on. We should be safe now.
big dog Verified Member Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I understand the argument about closers being overvalued, and I definitely get frustrated when a team blows a lead in a key situation in the 8th with the closer on the bench. Even so, there's still something special when a really good closer starts the 9th. Those of us who lived through the Ron Davis years have a lot to work through.
glunn Community Moderator Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 yeah... Don't just stand there.. Do something... My Baseball Voodoo probably won't work cuz Knudson is a man of the cloth. Got it!

big dog Verified Member Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 KAAAAAAAA_Boooooooommmmmm! My only regret is I'm not watching on TV to hear Hawk say "Dadgummit" and tell us how the Sox deserved to win.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Nice work Glunn... You did it. Whew... Apparently... Jinxes like that don't work in Idaho... or when Preachers are responsible. That was scary.
