I presume Diamond is done. Good outing for him. The wind seems to be the great equalizer in this series. Pretty tough to get anything other than a line drive out of the park.

I don't care how bad Adam Dunn *has* been, you do NOT throw a right-hander at him if you can avoid it. Either Diamond or a one-and-done Duensing there. Roenicke is meat for Dunn. And lo and behold.

 

But I am glad for Hicks, there. And Mauer taking the walk--in that case--forcing either a LH situation for Willingham or another pitching change was good.

Yeah, if you are unlucky enough to throw it where Dunn swings, it can go a long, long way. It's often straight up, but not that one.

Roenicke has a good recovery, though. I've been pleasantly surprised by him so far.

Also, cheers to Scott Diamond for getting back in the groove. Only his own error was really an issue today for him. That is a good sign, especially if Worley continues to rebound and Correia pitches effectively (as opposed to quite good as he has so far).

That would add up to two more solid starters than last year, and Pelfry is showing flashes of competence. That would make 4 solid starters with Deduno and Hendriks possibly adding to the list.

I understand the argument about closers being overvalued, and I definitely get frustrated when a team blows a lead in a key situation in the 8th with the closer on the bench. Even so, there's still something special when a really good closer starts the 9th.

 

Those of us who lived through the Ron Davis years have a lot to work through.
