stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 17, 2022 Posted May 17, 2022 Of the "Big Four" sports leagues in North America, Minnesota fans haven't had a winner since 1991 (31 years!). The Vikings haven't been to a Super Bowl since 1977, but have won divisional titles and gotten to Conference Championship games as recently as 2019. The Minnesota Wild has made the playoffs often, but hasn't won a playoff series since 2014 and were defeated in the first round this year after having their best regular season. The Minnesota Timberwolves have been infrequent playoff participants. This year they won their play-in, but were defeated in the first round. Since this is a Twins site, we all know the futility since 1991, the long losing streak in postseason and no playoff series victory since 2002. Which franchise will break through? Bonus points for picking a year when a Minnesota franchise "wins it all".
Drunk_Goose Verified Member Posted May 17, 2022 Posted May 17, 2022 Would love to say the Twins of course, but just think we have a couple holes to fill for me to be more confident in us getting there. I voted for the Wild. Yes fell apart in the playoffs, but I think they will be back up there next season and push on. Hurricanes are my NHL team, but pay attention to the league overall and yes Wild made some great strides this past season.

Musk21 Community Moderator Posted May 18, 2022 Posted May 18, 2022 Not much of a hockey fan, but seems like there is more parity in the NHL and/or ability for lower seeded teams to win the Stanley Cup. So I'd say the Wild have the best chance on being the first MN team to break through with a championship.
MMMordabito Verified Member Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 I'll go with the Wild, because I think Kaprizov is truly a generational talent and the team will get some other pieces to make it happen.
twinssporto Verified Member Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 It will be the Twins (probably this year) but it would be nice to see a championship hockey team come out of Minnesota. I'm still upset about the North Stars and Penguins...
