PDX Twin Verified Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Quote Joe Ryan had the fly ball out working in his favor early in the game tonight, as he gave up a number of deep fly balls that looked scary off the bat, but they all would eventually die harmlessly at the warning track for routine outs. In other words, he gives up 5 home runs at Yankee Stadium. joefish and Hosken Bombo Disco 2
joefish Verified Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Good game. I watch Ryan get swings and misses and wonder why and how. Batters are reacting with surprise. Location. Location. Strikes up, down, in and out. Impressive so far. Fun to watch A bit of hope. Squirrel 1
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 What a play by Jeffers. Wow.
Herschel78 Verified Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Is his delivery jerky? Should that be a concern for injury?
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Actual results and what happened is way more interesting than projections and predictions. Until that changes, Ryan is the man. And he doesn't even have a song about that.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 (edited) Great outing. Made the game thread fun again. I was reminded of a start Brad Radke made early in his career. Just like Joe Ryan last night, Radke also had a perfect game into the 7th inning, for 19 hitters, in Radke's second season, which was 1996. In Yankee Stadium no less. Also that turned out to be the dynasty Yankees team Radke was pitching against. Not saying 2021 Cleveland will turn out to be the 1996-2001 Yankees, but if Joe Ryan turns out to be Brad Radke ... ? Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Also note to radio stat guys: the 28 batters the Twins faced last night doesn't tie a record, since Radke faced 27 batters in that 1996 game? Not sure how you would count that.
