Fixed that for you.

All of that.  Also, selling and moving to North Carolina, etc. etc.

That period of time is what I consider 'the bad old days' only in second place to the North Stars picking up and moving.

Expect I am among the unchosen few because I actually enjoy reading what Reusse writes, most of the time.  Yes, there are days I read his column and feel that he is 100% full of that stuff we used to haul out of the bullpen.  But I find him interesting and love his stories about small town/local sports and the people involved from throughout the state.  And heck, I'm not even from Minnesota.

As for Tampa Bay, no one seems to be talking about the fact that they not only have their own plan, but execute it very well.  First, they stick to their plan and yes, that would have likely included trading Buxton this past July or winter.  But they also have the people who enable them to execute successfully.  Have to assume, I don't have a first hand clue, that they have a group of execs, scouts and player development people who are better than most.  Combine an excellent plan that works for their franchise with the right people to execute and you get a lot of success that they shouldn't be able to achieve with the financial resources available.  Heck, with their payroll they should be in the bottom two of their division every year.

Reusse is a columnist who's job is to opine on all sports. Therefore he cannot have the intimate knowledge of a geek like Gleeman who obsesses over baseball. I have tried to listen to Reusse on podcasts before (didn't bother this time) and his takes are always ill informed and off-base in my opinion. His personality can be entertaining in small doses, but what he says usually erases that quickly.

Reusse was one of three finalists for the J. G. Taylor Spink Award in 2020 Baseball Hall of Fame

I don't have a beef with Reusse and won't pretend to know much about him, but in this podcast he truly sounds like the "Old Man Yells at Cloud" meme.  This isn't because of the nature of his criticism -- many people out there are not happy with Twins management right now -- it's the way he is opining for a yesteryear, one which he forgot also included a lot of very bad Twins teams and bad Twins management.

One of the things I don't particularly like about Reusse's rant was his casting of Rocco's style of talking to the press as somehow not telling the truth.  There is no way that Rocco Baldelli is going to jump on one of these Zoom calls and start badmouthing his players, his coaches, the front office personnel, anything like that. That doesn't mean that there aren't those kinds of conversations happening, it's that they just don't happen in front of beat reporters anymore.

Referencing Gleeman's comments this morning about Sid Hartman in the pressbox loudly proclaiming "This guy sucks"; it's just not something that's going to happen in an organization in 2021.

I agree with you.  Although Baldelli is in charge of the team on the field, he is also a middle-man when it comes to the management structure.  That's a tough role to be in and one where diplomacy is a requirement.  One of Baldelli's jobs is to field questions when he won't know the answer.

That is something of a shock. Hard to say if it’s pandemic related or some after effect of turning the entire team over when joining the minors. Anecdotally, flipping through a number of minor league games on MILB.tv it looks like it has been a rough year for minor league ticket sales.

(The Iowa Cubs - my local AAA affiliate - also closed grandstand seats in the left / right outfield to sales. It looks like no one was buying, and they didn’t want to bother trying to staff those sections with ushers.)

The Minneapolis/St Paul Business Journal reports (in a paywalled article that I only read the first two paragraphs of) that Saints revenues are actually up this year from 2019, even with the early season pandemic capacity.

A casual observation a few weeks ago seems to indicate that merchandise sales for the Saints are through the roof. Many Saints hats / jerseys at Target Field.

I'd be really curious to know what the working relationship is like between Mike Veeck and the Pohlad family / Twins organization. Veeck is certainly not a young man at this point and I'm curious what his future plans are for the Saints now that they've been brought into the MLB / MiLB fold.
