Mauer and Morneau and Willingham are locks.....that leaves Perkins and Worley as possibilities I would think. No one else is even a candidate, are they? And man, that's not a very deep roster.....

Considering there are only going to be 750 active roster players in MLB, that means you barely even need to be below average at your position to make this list.

I would think that Doumit would qualify as below average to average at his position.

I think you are probably right. I didn't have Doumit at first and it could even reach 6 if Worley makes it.

 

Yeah, I didnt think of Worley on my list, he should make it.

Fangraphs ranks doumit as the worst DH in the AL, so I doubt he's in ahead of Plouffe and Diamond, but I guess it is possible......

 

Yeah, if he only DH'd and never caught, I dont think he'd be anywhere near this list. But, considering he catches fairly often, I would think that would be enough to get him into the top 75% of the MLB.

With 3/4 of the players making this list (unless they are ranking prospects in here too?), I would think anyone who DOESNT make the list would have to be limited to middle relievers, back end starters, and fringe position players. I dont see Doumit as being a fringe player. He's not an all star, he's not great, but he definitely belongs in the league.

Each team should average 16-17 players on this list. Doesn't seem the Twins will get half that. But I guess we're making up for it by dominating the prospect lists.

If Mauer is in the top hundred I'll discount the whole list.

 

Right on brother. I have a three time batting champion, good defensive catcher(great at framing) at 512. I should hook you up with my ex, she forgets anything of merit done after an hour.

Those fools at baseball reference.com have him at 38 WAR. And he's already 29.Ha! Worst signing ever. I think the Twins should trade him straight up for A-Rod. They should fire Terry Ryan and put David Kahn in there. Or a three way trade, getting Carl Crawford bundled in. I get dizzy just thinking about betting the under of the vegas line of 60 with that lineup.

Me too. Catchers with a .400 OBP can be picked up anywhere.

 

Obviously, Buster Posey would be an improvement. I'm sure Sabean would accept a Brian Dozier, Trevor Plouffe package for him Catchers like that are a dime a dozen. Plus, we all know Terry has pictures of Brian's Josh Johnson in a glory hole at the Alamo Square public restroom. So many MVP catchers, so little time. That is not a quote.
