I think if an initial test comes back positive, they do a rapid re-test to confirm right away before making any decisions or announcements. So by the time the game was called off and the player’s name was disclosed to the media, the possibility of a false positive for Garlick was already ruled out.

I’m assuming MLB is waiting on 24-hour test results from yesterday afternoon, and that we will hear more in a few hours. Per Twitter, the Twins have kicked all communications on this up to MLB. However, Falvey will be going on ‘CCO 830 at 2 PM, so I hear.

Monday's A's game is being postponed. If all goes well (knock on wood, though it doesn't deserved to be knocked... wood is good stuff) there will be a Tuesday double header (Twosday? they write themselves, i just have bad impulse control) in Oakland, land of foul territory.
