Spring Trade Targets: Should Twins Swap Young Arm for Albert Almora, Jr.?

Celestino is a much better option and is already on our 40 man roster. GREAT defensive CF and his offense is coming around. Might not be ready this year but.. 

 

There will be a ton of cuts coming up so NO need to give up any pitching assets for a defensive OF.... just not needed...

I'm not on board for getting Almora, but for those suggesting Celestino as a replacement... well, he struggled most of last year at Cedar Rapids before finishing the year strong, and will likely start at Fort Myers. He isn't particularly close at this point, I'd say the earliest we see him is September 2021.

Backup in center field has been the one spot that has troubled me. If Buxton is ready at the start of the season and plays 135-140 games that would be awesome, but if he spends any significant time hurt, then they need some help. If Kirilloff, Larnach, or Celestino is ready then that would be ideal but if not then it would be great not to have to play Cave…guessing he’ll start the season in AAA anyway.

The Cubbies need a #4 or #5 right now. More likely is trading Darvish's decline years and money for The Turtle. I should mention Darvish has a no trade clause until after the 2021 season.

The Twins should be swapping a young arm for an established arm. They should not be swapping young arms for position players. They need more arms, not less.

I was tempted to just say yes to your article because I thought what you brought up was the best argument for not making this trade. Absolutely no reason to do this. Just because we have broken some old habits doesn't mean that we should continue to bring in more and more spare parts

Where did you get those numbers?  Fangraphs shows a -5 DRS for CF.  Statcast shows a -2 OAA for CF.  He only got to 2 OAA overall because of RF play.

I mistook his Fangraphs RF DRS for his CF haha. He's fallen off more than I thought.
