2020 Celebrity Death Pool

[Musk21]

Time to start putting your list together for the 14th-annual Celebrity Death Pool! Send me your 2020 list via PM or you can also post it in a reply here.

25 celebrities. Need to be someone fairly well-known. I'll notify you if someone on your list doesn't meet the criteria.

Lists are due by Monday, January 6th.

I think it might be best if everyone emailed their lists to Musk ... Musk, make sure you inbox has space

[AlwaysinModeration]

Wow. David Stern and Don Larsen.

(Point of clarification—these two cannot be added to our lists, obviously?)

You are correct.

Awww ... and so it begins

Some of you are likely too young to know Barry ZeVan the Weather Man ...

And Sam Wyche today. 2020 came in hot.

[biggentleben]

Wyche I knew was getting worse, and he was on a preliminary cut of my list (which I've still not gotten done with family stuff). Much better coach than history will remember...

[Squirrel]

Neil Peart ...

[biggentleben]

There are those that would argue, but for my money, no one was better. RIP drummer boy...

[Mr. Brooks]

He's in my top 3 with Ginger Baker and John Bonham.

RIP.

Too sad.

I just came across this today. Damn. The MacNeil-Lehrer Newshour was a staple in my household growing up. He was a remarkable journalist. Judy Woodruff has a great essay on him in today’s Washington Post op-ed page.

Kobe Bryant dead at 41 .

Peter Serkin, from pancreatic cancer, RIP. He was a beautiful musician. I had the pleasure to hear him in concert many times.

103 ... long life well lived, Spartacus

[biggentleben]

Not points to be gained, but considered putting Douglas on my list just as a tribute, hearing that he was headed downhill late in 2019. Dan Rather had a tremendous tribute tweet as well.

[biggentleben]

Probably wouldn't have qualified for the list, but "celebrity" in my world, Larry Barton, Jr. passed away Thursday. He was a long-time MLB scout and was a major influence on some of the scouts that I consider my mentors in scouting, so it's a big name in my world. RIP.

[Musk21]

Ja'Net Dubois, best known as Willona on Good Times and for writing & singing the theme songs for Good Times and The Jeffersons, died suddenly at the age of 74.

Joe Diffie passed on Sunday due to COVID-19 at 61 years old. While not everyone may be a fan of country music, Diffie had some great songs that spoke to the heartland in the 1990s.

[biggentleben]

Well, F COVID at this point. Wallace Roney?! You can't stay away from Wallace Roney? F this virus.
