MileHighTwinsFan Verified Member Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 ESPN just reported that Domingo German of the Yankees is out for the playoffs. This has pretty significant ramifications for a likely Twins vs. Yankees series. Aaron Boone on MLB Network also sounded like he was counting on Luis Severino to be back in the rotation - assuming his remaining two starts this season go well. So what do the starting pitching match ups look like for a Twins vs. Yanks series? Will the Yanks use a bullpen game?Does this development impact what the Twins do?
SpicyGarvSauce Verified Member Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 They'll sign Mike Mussina and Andy Pettitte to pitch against the Twins, considering those guys owned the Twins in their careers.
John Kelsey Verified Member Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 Severino is back, which is unfortunate, and Paxton is pitching really well. I'd guess they go:PaxtonSeverinoTanakaHapp/CC

I could see either Paxton or Tanaka starting games 1 and 4.

His was similar, only no CC, just a Happ/Bullpen game. I'd assume they'd rather have Severino pitch at home vs game 3 on the road. Gotta say that if the Twins do play the Yankees in the ALDS, or any round really, the final score for every game will be 11-10. Every game will last 6 hours.

cmoss84 Verified Member Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 Everyone on here keeps talking about 4 different matchups for 4 different games. How many days off are in between? Will pitcher 1 be available for game 4 for each team?

CC Sabathia did it for several starts in a row for the Brewers and was amazing. I would honestly start odorizzi for Game 1 and 4, while having Berrios for 2 and 5 and a Perez/bullpen game 3
