darin617 Verified Member Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Just wanted to know if there has been any news on how he is progressing. All I could find is that he has pitched in 2 games for Fort Myers.
darin617 Verified Member Posted July 4, 2019 Author Posted July 4, 2019 I take it this might be related to the Vasquez move today.
Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 I take it this might be related to the Vasquez move today. Either Allen is coming up or a trade is in the works. Allen has only had a couple appearances, so it could be a trade...
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 I know Allen pitched two games at Fort Myers and was sent to either AA or AAA, I can't remember which. I doubt this is related to him. He only topped out at 91 MPH and probably isn't ready for another shot in the big leagues yet. This has happened in the past before where the Twins have left a spot open on the 40 man roster for a small chunk of time... it'll get filled soon enough.
Otwins Verified Member Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 May be Ian Krol who has 5 saves in Rochester. We do not need 5 starters for awhile so I am guessing they swap out a reliever.

There’s no rush to add him and put him in right now. But then that might just be me hoping for something better in a trade first.

Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Allen is in Cedar Rapids Officially he is in Fort Myers.
Tuba Verified Member Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 They figure to add someone at the deadline probably, so maybe there is some advanced rosterlitics that say your guys stand a better chance not being claimed now than at the deadline.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 I take it this might be related to the Vasquez move today. I would be very surprised if they called up Allen now... The only information that we have so far on Allen is what has been posted in the daily minor league updates when he pitches.

But to remove someone from the 40-man certainly must mean someone is being added. We’re just all curious and speculating who, what, when, where and why.

Doomtints Verified Member Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Honestly I think Allen just wanted out of LA. He lost the closer's job in April and then was put in solely in pointless situations. That's a big drop. It would not shock me at all if he had a conversation with the team and then punctuated said conversation with his final two disastrous performances. Allen will be as good as a handful of other relievers on the Twins, at minimum. There's no reason to sign him then have him sit in the minors.

You honestly think he did that? And then the Twins start him in high A, because...?
