Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted June 25, 2019 Posted June 25, 2019 Per Dustin Morse of the Twins, the team has activated IF Ronald Torreyes from the restricted list and DFAd LHP Gabriel Moya. Moya was hurt in spring training. He rehabbed and returned to the Red Wings but has an ERA over 7.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted June 25, 2019 Posted June 25, 2019 Too bad, I had high hopes for him once upon a time. Unless Adrianza's abdominal issue is supposed to keep him out most of the summer, I would have just DFA'd Torreyes, but Moya was one of several guys on the 40-man I wouldn't raise any objection to removing.

Never was a hard thrower though and had a funky delivery so was a long shot to make it. I am bummed out but this probably is a move that was going to happen sooner or later.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2019 Posted June 25, 2019 Can we still say the Twins won the JR Murphy trade??? Asking for a friend.Well, they got nothing, but it did open up space for Garver and Astudillo, so, meh, I guess.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2019 Posted June 25, 2019 If no one claims him, the Aaron Hicks trade tree can live on!
Doomtints Verified Member Posted June 25, 2019 Posted June 25, 2019 Yes, I think we won it. The Yanks gave Hicks a big contract and he went right back to his old ways. Assuming the Twins window is opening, there will be many games against Hicks in the future. Murphy is long gone.

Parting with Hicks for the privilege of being able to roster Ronald Torreyes. . Gotta keep this alive...there must be a possible scenario out there still that has us winning this thing. Maybe a couple of injuries, and Torreyes is named WS MVP?

Before the deal, Hicks put up more value than all the other players combined. And then he got hurt. And the deal had nothing to do with the trade, that's a separate transaction
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 25, 2019 Posted June 25, 2019 I'm happy to have Garver, Castro and Astudillo, so I guess? How's about having Garver, Castro, Astudillo AND Hicks as a 4th OFer? Because Hicks has nothing to do with any of those three.

However, it's also true that the Yankees will have Hicks until 2026, and I don't expect him to be good for that entire time. This will not only help the Twins, but will also help every team in the AL.
