I'm surprised, and disappointed by this.
I would have thought Zygi's expectations for this year would have been much higher than 8 wins and no playoffs.
Not sure at this time I'll bother to follow them next year. I feel like we've seen enough of these two. What makes them think next year they'll suddenly figure it all out?

So last year's 13-3 record holds no equity?

If the Vikings fired their coach and GM after a season with a winning record and only one year removed from a 13-3 record they'd be ridiculed league-wide and probably deservedly so.

They went all in, and didn't make the playoffs. They beat one good team. No accountability at all? Just, what? They have one playoff win, and that was pure luck. That record last year got them nothing.

The players and contracts they have on the books leave the window open for more than one year. It would be an absurd look for the Vikings to clean house now; everyone else would be pointing at us and saying knee-jerk. Not that we're alone, I'd bet if Philly missed the playoffs instead those fans would be doing the same thing. As fans of the team I think we're too far into the forest to see the trees.

Philly just won the super bowl. What have the Vikings won in five years with Zimmer? I see the forest clearly, no real post season wins, and beating one good team this year, after going all in.

I don't mind Rudolph but he'd have to take a huge paycut. Looking around the league, there were about 5 good TE this year. I'm not sure why, but for most teams it's just not a position of emphasis any longer.

I know it's hard to do, but if they could just manage to get an above average LT they could probably see vast line improvements just by kicking Reiff inside or to RT.

I'm curious what they do at LB. I don't know that I like Wilson and Gideon enough to start with Kendricks.

Wilson flashed some potential, I wouldn't be surprised if he is Plan A to replace Barr.  But you have to draft a guy in the top 4 rounds if you don't resign Barr.

I don't think Reiff is anything but a LT. If I remember, he was really bad at RT.  And cutting or trading him will carry some expensive dead cap hits.  I thought O'Neil lookied surprisingly good though.

Zimmer was already asking his captains if he had lost the locker room this year. Not a good sign. Minus a significant change of some sort, I see a huge letdown coming similar to Childress’s final year. Next year has 6-10 written all over it. They might not win 2 road games if you look at their schedule. This will be followed by Spielman drafting another Christian Ponder type QB high in the draft to take the place of Cousins when Cousins leaves.

Knee jerk? Spielman and Zimmer have 5 years together. They have 1 playoff win, and needed a miracle to do that.

Green and Childress were both fired one year after getting to an NFC Championship game. It happens all the time in the NFL, nobody would bat an eye.

If Wilf is fine with regular season wins, and no more, then fine, it's his team. But he explicitly said he was in it to win a title.

I've seen enough, I don't think Zimmer is capable of winning a title, even if you let him pick any team in the league. But, that's my opinion, totally fair those who disagree.

What were your expectations coming into the season nick? You can't tell me you didn't expect more than 8 wins and no playoffs.

Falling short of expectations has to have consequences. If they don't, then your expectations were never real, they were hopes and dreams.

To be fair, they had another playoff win snatched away by a miracle on behalf of the Seahawks (the Blair Walsh game).

A missed FG is not a miracle, not even a short one, we see those every week.

The play that beat the Saints you'll likely never see again in your lifetime.

Walsh missed a 27 yard attempt. You don't see sub-30 yard FG misses every week. There were 3 in the entire NFL this season, out of 208 tries, or a 98.6% success rate.

I admit the circumstances surrounding the Diggs play were more unusual, but at its base element, it was a defensive back missing a tackle and a WR going in for a TD, which isn't all that unusual either. (The Vikings didn't even need the TD to win, they were only down by 1, so Diggs could have just gone out of bounds for a FG attempt too. Not that I'm confident a Vikings kicker would have made it! :) )
